Fitbit iOS app crashes when I open (a) zone minutes (b) exercise days tab

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have the latest Fitbit app version for iOS. The app crashes (closes down) only for those 2 parts - zone minutes and exercise days tab (I'm able to go inside exercise days, but I try to open anything inside it, it crashes). I have searched online extensively, on this forum and Reddit, and have tried every possible remedy suggested, including deleting cache, storage, restarting phone, reinstalling the app (have done so multiple times). I used to see this data on the online (web) page, but I found today that it won't be available after July 2024!

So my only options are:

a. Move out of iOS and get an Android phone (I moved to iOS/iPhone only recently, in April 2024, after being with Android for over 13 years; so this is not happening)

b. Move out of Fitbit (I have a premium subscription too), and look at alternatives.

Been searching the net for a solution as soon as I moved to iOS in April since the app was working perfectly fine on my Android devices earlier and the crashes are exclusive to iOS.

@Karthik_S , A warm welcome to the Community ! Thank you for your message and information.

To better assert the issue here, could you please answer the following questions:

Do you use the Fitbit app or do you record your activities with a Fitbit?
Does the app crashes only when trying to get the info for the activities or when looking into something else?

What mobile device are you using and what is the operating system version used? eg. iPhone 12 iOS 17.4, IPad 4 iOS 17.2, etc.
In the meantime try logging out of the Fitbit app.
Tap on the multitasking button and swipe the Fitbit App to force close it.
Restart your phone (off/on)
Log in again. Try to load the info again.

Yes, I use my Fitbit Charge 6 to record my runs and use the app on my phone to check on the numbers after the run.

The app crashes only on 2 specific occasions: when I try to access (a) zone minutes and (b) exercise days (the 2 most important and relevant parts of the app, for me, as far my exercise is concerned).

I'm using iPhone 15 Plus, with the latest iOS (17.5.1).

I have tried every solution mentioned online possible including the one mentioned in your reply.

I had OnePlus 10 Pro earlier (till March 2024) and never faced any kind of issue in the Fitbit app in Android.

@Karthik_S , Thank you for your reply and for the info.

I'll pass this all to our team so that they can look into this. We'll be monitoring this, to see if other users are affected too.

In the meantime, try using the online dashboard (fitbit.com) from any browser and check if you can see your information there.
Also as a 1 time exception.
On your phone, uninstall the Fitbit App. turn your phone off/on and reinstall the app again, when the phone is on again.

Let me know if the issue persists afterwards

Thank you, Juan. I am tracking the web version nowadays (since that is the only way I can) but since it mentions that it will be removed after July 2024, I'm worried that my Fitbit will become useless after that.

Also, I have tried the delete cache-uninstall-restart-install routine more than 50 times already since that is the most commonly cited remedy for app crashes on most online forums including this one and Reddit. No use at all.

@Karthik_S  ! Thank you for your patience while our team worked on this.

Good news. The issue with the app freezing when checking the exercise tile should be solved on the new app update (v4.20)
If possible try updating the app to the newest version.

Please let us know over here if the issue got solved for your or you still need assistance with this.

Just updated to 4.20. To be safe, I offloaded the data from the old app, deleted the app, restarted my iPhone and then updated to the new app.

But the same problem persists 😞 The app continues to shut down instantly as soon as I select zone mins or exercise 😞

@JuanFitbit Just as an experiment, I deleted the Fitbit data from my iPhone 15 plus, logged out, and uninstalled the app. And then installed the app in my wife's iPhone 15 plus (we both bought our phones on the same day, earlier this year - identical model), and then paired my Fitbit with the app on her phone. The same crashing issue occurs in the app in her phone too. So, I deduced that this is not a device issue (that is my phone alone; if it was, I was thinking of factory-resetting my iPhone). Something else is causing this problem.

Hello, I am having what appears to be a similar issue.

iPhone 11, iOS 17.5.1, Fitbit app version 4.20, Sense watch

For me, it seems to specifically affect runs tracked via GPS. I can view the data just fine via fitbit.com/activities, including the map, pace graph, heart rate graph, etc. However, when trying to view the same exercise via the mobile app, it brings up some of the data - neither the heart rate graph nor map load in - then freezes completely. At this point, I can only either force close the app or wait up to several minutes for it to crash out on its own.

Exercises without GPS tracking as well as zone minutes seem to work fine for me.
