FitBit App bug encountered:

  • Today’s readings messes up on the reading from yesterday. For example if I walked 8 miles yesterday, & I did only 1 today, yesterday’s default back to 1 mile sometimes 0 miles. Does the same on the minutes Accumulated & calories burned.

Hello @Michael-Powell when asking about a Fitbit app problem and posting in hardware support, it is helpful to include the phone mode.

I'm not understanding what is ment by defaults to, or you say your Fitbit app had 8 miles yesterday then at midnight, both yesterday's and today's steps got reset to 0

My wife and I are also both having the same problem Michael reported. When viewing the daily stats in the Fitbit app they are correct for the current date. But if you look backward at “Yesterday” or earlier days we briefly see those stats but within a second or two the individual stats (mileage, calorie, etc.) get replaced by the current day’s stats. Both of us deleted the App today and re-installed it. The error persists.

Exactly

I totally agree. It’s been happening for almost 2 weeks so far. I uninstalled & reinstalled the app & still persists.

Take a look at the minutes.. it says 0. Where it says 1,067 calories, I actually burned well over 3,000 Calories.

There was an update for the App tonight that did not fix the issue.

Hi @Michael-Powell - I understand what you are saying about data from previous days

There is a temporary work around that I use. It’s a bit convoluted but it makes your data visible.

  • Sync your device to your iPhone.
  • Go into your iPhone’s settings and turn Bluetooth off.
  • Open the Fitbit app. You will be able to see the data from previous days.
  • When done, turn Bluetooth back on so that your device can sync again.

I track my daily miles in an Excel spreadsheet for a non-Fitbit 1,000 miles/year challenge. I go thru this process every 3 or 4 days to gather my daily miles. It works. Not a perfect solution but until this gets fixed, I am able to get my past days’ data.

For me this bug only affects the main screen of the App where you see the large circle for Steps and the smaller circles for Stairs, Miles, Calories, and Minutes. But if I tap on any of these circles I get a log displaying the daily record for that individual statistic and I can scroll backward in time to see the data day by day. These logs are correct and the data doesn’t suddenly change like on the main page, so there is no need for me to go through the process of syncing then turning off Bluetooth. I just can’t use the back arrow on the main screen to see accurate reports on prior days.

Thank you, LukeVan -- I never thought to do that and that's an easy workaround.  I am too have the same issue and I noticed it started about 2 weeks ago.  I have an iPhone XR.  It had been working, displaying stats perfectly until just recently.  Thanks again for this forum and for posting -- glad it's not just me!
