Fitbit surge vs. elliptical

I recently got a elliptical. I have tried every way possible to get my surge to register the correct info while on the elliptical. But it just won't do it. The machine will say I've gone a mile. The Fitbit will say I've gone .01 miles. Is there anyway around this to get it to track distance and steps??

Hello @Ryannmarie2005, thanks for joining us, it's great to have you around! Smiley Happy

Are you using SmartTrack to get your Elliptical activity recorded or are you manually setting the exercise before starting? Additionally, when you're exercising, are your arms moving during the activity or are you holding any kind of stationary handles? If so, I would like to suggest placing the Surge on your dominant hand and change the setting of the device to your non-dominant one. This should improve the accuracy of the distance.

Additionally, I would like to recommend to start an Elliptical mode on your Surge just before performing the exercise, to increase even more its accuracy. To start Elliptical mode:

  1. Press the Home button (left one) and swipe until you find Exercise.
  2. Tap on the screen and then swipe until you find Elliptical
  3. Tap on the screen again and press the Select button (bottom right) to start the mode.

I hope this information can be useful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else! Smiley Wink
