I just got a new iphone. I have downloaded the fitbit app and have my profile logged in, but the watch is not syncing becuase it is not visable on bluetooth and is not connecting tot he phone at all. How do I make the watch visable on Bluetooth so the phone will pair with it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello @angela-d. thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Fitbit tracker don't show in the Bluetooth settings of your phone as discoverable devices. They show up as paired once you have set up Notifications on them.

If your tracker is not syncing correctly I would like to suggest you the following:

  1. Restart your tracker
  2. Restart your phone
  3. Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone for 15 seconds, then turn it back on
  4. Make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi signal
  5. Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the syncing process
  6. Try to sync your tracker again.

In case your tracker is still not syncing correctly, let's try setting up your tracker as a new device to reset the connection between the tracker and your phone. To set it up as a new device:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  2. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  3. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I’ve been having the same problem as Angela, where my Fitbit won’t sync, and it won’t  connect in my phone’s Bluetooth setting (to be fair, it was on the list originally, but while attempting and failing to make it connect again, I deleted it from the list. Now it shows up for a split second only sometimes, and won’t connect at all). So I followed your instructions, and the first set (turning Bluetooth on and off) did nothing. I even turned Bluetooth off overnight, but nothing changed. Then, I tried the second set of instructions, where you suggested to set up the tracker as a new device. It started out great, but... it is now currently stuck at a screen where it says “Found it” very happily, but has a spinning circle next to “connecting”.  It’s been a half an hour now, and it still isn’t connecting. I have a Fitbit versa and an iPhone 6s. I hope you can help!

Hello @Quirine, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have shared your experience with me and for having tried the troubleshooting steps I've provided earlier. If the setup process gets stuck after the Fitbit app has found your device, I would like to suggest you the following:

  1. Restart your Fitbit device, then leave it plugged in.
  2. Force-quit the Fitbit app.

After that, open the app again and try to set up the device again. Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a couple tries and keep me updated, I'll be happy to continue assisting you.

Hey I’ve followed all the instructions in this thread probably 20 times and it still won’t pair. I’ve restarted my charge 3 and my iPhone 8 both several times, forced quit the app, turned blue tooth on/off, tried several times to ‘install new charge3’ and eventually forgetting the device. I don’t know what else I can do

I am going to buy a new Apple Watch when it is released in mid September 2020. FitBit is too frustrating!

Hi MarcGFitbit,  as you can see from the many replies, following you instruction does not resolve the problem.  It did not for them & it has not for me.  Please advise what to do.  I bought the FitBit with expectation it would function & want the problem fixed

I had to spend some time on the phone with the Fitbit technical service but after retrying all the same steps in the post they sent me a new one

The procedure referenced for restarting a tracker is incredibly burdensome.  (Stand on your head while pointing toes north & sneeze every 15 seconds.)  I gave up.  Somewhere in the process I touched on the app (new iphone) & it asked the very simple questions to connect via bluetooth.  It just happened.  Seems like every app on new iphone has its quirks.  patience.

This still doesn't work.  Nothing works.  I am so frustrated with fitbit.  My fitbit would NEVER sync automatically so if I wanted to see my steps on my phone I had to manually swipe to get them to talk every single time. I wrote to customer service in a chat and they said it was too complicated an issue so they would need to email me later.  They then sent me an email saying revert my fitbit to factory.  I did.  Stupid me.  It now won't talk AT ALL.  Nothing.  No sync, no notifications, nothing at all.  I'm so frustrated with this!

My Fitbit worked fine for YEARS.  Now it hasn’t connected to the app since 2/22.  What happened?  And why when I charge it it never shows the right time?!  It’s not even off by exact hours that I could blame it on a time zone issue.  They has ALWAYS happened and I could fix it if I synced, but now that isn’t working so this watch is very useless.  Please help.  Ready to throw it out and get an Apple watch.

Just experienced this myself and get very disheartened when reading this. Everything seems lost from my account and the device is not visible either on an iPhone or a Samsung bluetooth listings. Most of the advice is based on the fact that the fitbit is visible but won't connect. Is my only alternative to throw a six months old, and may I say, quite expensive gadget out the window?
