How to restore a deleted sleep log?

I mistakenly deleted one night's sleep data (through the FitBit app on iPhone). Can the data be restored?

Hello @schaubc, I hope you're doing well, it's great to have you on board the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. If you'd like to restore a sleep log you have recently deleted, please tap on the Sleep Tile in the Fitbit app, then on the plus (+) sign on the top right corner of the screen and finally on Add Sleep Log. On the next screen select the Sleep Start date and hour and Sleep End date and hour (which should coincide with the time of the deleted sleep log), finally, tap on Save. If that specific log had Sleep Stages recorded, give it a couple of minutes before the system calculates the Sleep Stages again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Thanks!

I tinker with the start and end times to capture the night, and wonder if I got it right... maybe?...

Is there anyway to know that it’s right?

Thank you again!

Hello @schaubc, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

I'm very glad you were able to follow my instructions. Once you save the sleep log, you can check it by scroll down while inside of the Sleep tile until you see the date of the log you have just created, tap on it to see the details. Remember that you can also edit this log in case you need to adjust it again.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply!

I just had this same problem.  I accidentally deleted the sleep log.  I successfully added it back, but now it is only simplified details.  Before it was deleted it had detailed sleep cycles.  Battery is full, it must have been able to read heart rate since it originally had cycle details, and log is longer than 3 hours.  What happened?

This also happened to me today and as I was literally just looking at it I was able to put the exact start and end minutes in when I recreated the log and as the previous poster said it came up but only with simplified data. 😞

Is all the R.E.M./light/deep sleep info just gone now? Is the data record of my heart rate and movement not still exactly the same for that time period?? Can it not just recalculate that stuff???

Has this been answered? I'm having the same issue!

I appreciate you have let us know you're experiencing the same situation. Tell me, when you accidentally removed the sleep log, did the log have Sleep Stages? If the Sleep Stages were not successfully added back, please update the Fitbit app in case you haven't done it yet and monitor your logs for the next days. In case this happens again, let me know so I can check this further, a screenshot will be helpful as well.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting to hear from you.

I appreciate you have joined us and let us know about this situation. Thanks for having tried the instructions provided on my previous post. At this moment, I would like to suggest you to go to the Sleep Section of the online Dashboard and check if the log you've added manually is showing up here. If not, add the log through this site.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

Yes,
I see the log.
Is this prior to my rmanually e-entering the times?
It also doesn't give the breakdown as to Deep sleep, REM and light.

Thank you

Hi, had the same issue by manually editing a sleep log on Android (to add a nap) and accidentally losing the proper night's sleep log and stages. Can it be recovered with the stages automatically, not just active and restless but original sleep stages such as REM? Thanks

Hello @ElleNando, have a wam welcome to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for posting your question. Please note that if you have modified a sleep log, it's possible that the app will not be able to adjust Sleep Stages if the change was big or involved a different schedule from the original log. If this happened, please change the log back as it was originally and let us know if Sleep Stages start showing again.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, feel free to reach us in case you need anything else.

I, too, accidentally removed a sleep entry (yesterday's) by swiping across my phone.

I tried your solution but get the message "Can't save log. A sleep log already exists in this time period."

What now? Is it stored in my band? On your server? How do I get it back?

Best Answer

Okay, I got it back by entering it on the online log. Hooray!

Hi, where can I find  the Sleep Tile in the Fitbit app to tap it ???tries my Cell phone but I cannot see it???

Best Answer

You have to do it from the PC dash not the phone app. Just tweak the start/end time & it automatically fills in with any sleep data for that period.

Handy Hint: As others have stated doing this the sleep quality data adjusts but does not update i.e. says you have 0 awake/restless but you see 3 pink/5 blue lines. On android if you get this click the share symbol & it will show the times associated with these without actually having to post it so it's not really missing. Wish I knew that sooner!

Same thing happened to be and I'm super frustrated. The sleep bit is the reason I purchased this thing. Last night it tracked that I went to bed at 11 and fell asleep shortly after. I did not at all. I fell asleep at 2:20am- hello insomnia! I wanted to keep a record of how long it took me to fall asleep. So I changed the bedtime. Then it got all wonky and it still wasn't accurate with sleep stages so I tried again. Still weird. Then I followed what I was supposed to go as outlined on this thread and that COMPLETELY screwed it up. Now all my sleep stage data is gone. P#$ed.
