How to restore a deleted sleep log?

I mistakenly deleted one night's sleep data (through the FitBit app on iPhone). Can the data be restored?

Hey what is the pc dash? I think there should be a two stage warning of “are you sure you want to delete it?” It’s weird how it’s too easy to delete! Two days in a row I have done it by accident while amending it. So annoying!

This didn’t work, I had over 7 hours sleep and now it says only 4 - apparently I was restless when I was not at all awake. Can there not be a two step deletion method? And why would anyone want to delete their sleep log on purpose!

Thanks, solution worked! 😊

I have the same problem. I mistakenly deleted the sleep log on my app but I cannot follow your instructions to restore it as I no longer have the ‘sleep tile’. It’s gone! Help!

I inadvertently hit the delete button on the dialogue to edit the sleep log this morning and poof it’s gone! No warning, no follow up asking if I’m sure I want to delete critical data and best I can determine NO undo and no method to restore it. Extremely poor user interface design. And apparently no intention to address this critical flaw by Fitbit judging from their response here. I followed the direction to add back the time but the critical aspects of the data are just gone. Absurd!

Hello everyone, thanks for your participation in the Community.

You can confirm the steps to edit or delete sleep logs at How do I edit, or delete sleep logs in the Fitbit app?

While there isn't an option to retrieve information that was deleted, you can always log your sleep details in the Fitbit app. To do that, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the sleep tile.
  2. Tap on the "+" icon and on "Add Sleep Log".
  3. Enter the sleep start and end times.
  4. Tap on "Save" so it can be added to your logs.

I accidentally deleted my sleep log.
I read instructions but the tile is not there. I went to settings but there doesnt seem to be a way to add it.
I noticed that many had the same issue and resolved it but I did not see exactly how that was resolved.
please help !

Fitbit really needs to add a layer of prompting before allowing a sleep log to be deleted. Apparently they are in transition due to being purchased by Google and in my experience Google doesn't respond to anything so I'm not holding my breath on this.

Hi @Ninette17, welcome on board. @kemccarthy1, it's great to see you here again I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for sharing your thoughts about this situation. While currently there isn't an option to retrieve the sleep logs that were deleted, you can visit the Feature Suggestions board where you can submit your ideas about a new or existing feature. Our team will make sure to take your comments into consideration to improve the options available in the Fitbit app, and enhance your Fitbit experience.

@Ninette17, since you mentioned that the tile wasn't there, I'd recommend to check this help article for instructions to add or rearrange the tiles in the Fitbit app.

If you need anything else, feel free to reply back.

I’m sorry but do you guys in the Fitbit team seriously not read peoples comments/responses on this forum?? Cause all I keep reading every single tine I log into the community are the same scripted answers that in no way help people with their issues...

I tried both suggestions about adding manually the missing sleep logs through the app and the PC dashboard, but none of those worked. It still says that I already have a sleep log in this period of time.

So I’m asking for a solution that is not scripted or that at least works... and please don’t start with the troubleshooting steps, I’ve gone through those like 7 million times since getting my device 2 years ago.

Oh, and by the way, I checked and the reason why I accidentally deleted the logs is because the app doesn’t display any “edit” option anymore, is just “delete sleep log”, which in my books is your app’s issue (one more to add into the infinite list) and should not be causing so much trouble to the users, specially since the problem goes back for at least two years since this thread started.

Thanks in advance.

I deleted my sleep log from last night.  Followed above procedures from my phone do the plus sign and adding the sleep log and putting in sleep start date and approximate hour and end date and hour (hour I woke up not the hour I deleted the log) and hit save and nothing happened.  Waited about 10 minutes.

this did not work for me. Also, I find the delete button to be very close to the edit button and hit it accidentally. It only takes one hit. It either needs to be moved or ask if I really want to delete it. I love my sleep data and hate when this happens.

On my phone, since I accidently deleted my sleep log, I don't have any tile to click on. This will not work for me.

Can you help clarify what you mean by online log?  Are you working through a laptop interface as opposed to phone?
