I mistakenly deleted one night's sleep data (through the FitBit app on iPhone). Can the data be restored?

Hi everyone. Welcome to the Community Forums @Ltrax65

To log information online, usually you can do it from fitbit.com dashboard. To log sleep, I recommend doing the following:

  1. From the fitbit.com dashboard, click the Log tab ► Sleep.
  2. Find the section that says: Log sleep and enter Sleep start and sleep end.
  3. Click log sleep to save it

Hope you find this information helpful.

The point being that the app will then pull stored data for that period right?  Your solution has always worked for me.  And 90% of the time the software then pulls up and displays detailed data within the start / end period.

Thanks for stopping by @JohnM357.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums. As you have mentioned, all wrist-based Fitbit devices automatically detect your sleep data from the start to the end, when you wear your device to bed. The suggestion to edit the sleep history is only, if by any reason your sleep information is not matching or if you didn't use the device during the night. You can always check our help article How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? To get more information.

See you around.

Two related things:

1. I had to edit my sleep times because despite sleeping 7 hrs, only the last 2 hrs showed at all! How do I make sure that doesn't happen again? It was not an issue of how I was wearing the watch (see below), and it was fully charged (in fact I had just removed it from the charger).

2. I edited the sleep times using the app. At first it wouldn't let me edit, but it allowed me to add the earlier hrs as a separate log (as long as the times didn't overlap). That worked, and correct sleep stage data showed on both - so clearly not a problem with how I was wearing the watch! But I wanted them in one log. That required deleting the later 2 hr log and adjusting the time on the other. That worked, but now things are weird on the app (website looks okay). The app Dashboard now shows corrected total sleep time, but within the sleep tracker the info is incomplete. For instance, it now says I slept only 3 hrs (should be 6 plus), and although the graphs' x axes show the entire 7 hrs, the sleep stage "Deep and REM" info and "Time Asleep" info missing for those later 2 hrs on the graphs (as I said, it looks right on the website).

Why would the app and the website show different information? And how can I correct the app?

- And, of course, what went wrong in the first place that prevented the first 5 or so hours of my night not appear?
