IOS App won’t record Charge 2 HR Bike ride

It was bad enough when I was riding my bike and my Charge 2 was recording the bike ride and thousands of steps simultaneously. Now the tracker won’t record the ride at all. 

I did a 22 mile ride with the tracker running in bike mode and my iPhone was well within Bluetooth range with the Fitbit app running as I do for all my rides. So the iOS app thinks I took over 4000 steps covering a distance of 0.4 miles and didn’t record a bike ride at all.
