In app notifications not showing up

Hello! I’ve had this problem before and it seems not to have been rectified. I got my Fitbit Alta HR at Christmas and have worn it ever since. But if I check notifications there is nothing there since 17th May! Please would someone be able to tell me how to rectify this fault, hopefully with a solution which lasts! Many thanks.

Hi, @TrishG47, I am assuming you mean notifications on your Alta HR.  If you are not getting notifications, please go to your Bluetooth settings and see if your Alta HR is listed as "paired" or "connected".  If not, that is the problem.  If it is, then choose forget this device.

Then go to the Fitbit app to re-pair.  The pairing must be done via the Fitbit app, not via your phone's Bluetooth settings.

In the app select the Alta HR icon.   On the next screen you will see "Notifications" Click that, and you should get a message that says "Bluetooth pairing required"  , choose "set up"

If the set up can't be completed, you may need to give your Alta HR a restart and then try again to pair in the Fitbit app.

I hope this helps.  Let us know how it goes, and welcome to the forums.

Thanks for your suggestions. Tried it loads of times. Doesn’t work. Neither did doing the stuff suggested by Gee Nelle A and the Fitbit Team when I wrote asking for a solution to this on 16th August. Obviously their suggestions didn’t work either, which is why I wrote in the forum last week. I’m really getting pretty annoyed by this now. I’ve looked on various sites and nothing seems to work. People have suggested if all else fails then remove the Fitbit App and re-install it but I would then lose ten months of my exercise records!!  From what I can gather from the forums the problem seems to be connected to the permanent red dot on the “notifications” logo but there seems to be no way to remove this. Please can someone come up with a way, which actually works, to get my stats recorded, since 17th May, under notifications, without my having to delete everything??!!  Look forward to hearing from someone with a solution. Cheers.

Hi, @TrishG47, deleting the app will NOT delete your data and you will not lose any information as long as when you log back in you use the same email address and password as when you set up the account.

All your data is stored on the Fitbit servers and not in your app, so you can safely go ahead and try that.  I don't know if it will work (I am not entirely clear what the issue is), but it definitely will not hurt to delete the app and re-download it.

Seriously?!  Ok I’ll give that a go and see what happens. Thank you.

Hello again. I have just removed the Fitbit App and reinstalled it and it hadn’t changed anything. The history of my miles walked is still only displaying up to 17th May in notifications. Only difference is the red dot is no longer showing. 😫

Hi, @TrishG47, it is a little difficult to be clear what the problem is... I don't think you mentioned anything about the history of your miles walked in your previous posts... Deleting the app and reinstalling does indeed remove the red dot -- which indicates unread/old messages.  These should automatically disappear after 30 days but I believe this is not working entirely as expected.

I would not think you would find the history of miles walked under "notifications".  The notifications part of the app is for friend requests, posts from groups, and messages from Fitbit as in "you met your step goal today" or "get x more steps to meet your goal".

You will find your exercise history under the exercise tile, but it will not tell you total distance.  If you go to your profile and choose "badge collection" you can see your lifetime miles there.

Perhaps you could post a screen shot of your phone (what you are seeing up to 17 May that you cannot see any further) so that we can be clearer what the problem is.

Hi there @TrishG47, great to see you in the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I think I know what you're referring to and I'd like to help you out with this.

Based on customer feedback, we stopped showing notifications in the Notification Center. You can continue to receive these notifications as push notifications by turning on Push Notifications in the app under Account > Notifications. Additionally, ensure that Notifications is selected in your iPhone settings.

Hope this helps and if you need anything else, I'm here to help! If this is not what you're referring to, let me know and I'll be happy to take a deeper look.

Also, thanks a lot for the help here @Julia_G @NellyG!

PS. I'm moving your post to the iOS app board for categorization purposes
