Hello @Maqqie and @Ladyjardine, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

@Ladyjardine, thanks for your help and participation in the forums, I really appreciate it. @Maqqie, thanks for bringing this to my attention and for letting me know the troubleshooting steps you've already tried in hopes to resolve this issue. At this moment I would like to suggest you to try to set up your tracker as a new device to reset the connection between your tracker and your phone. Don't worry, none of the information already stored in your account will be deleted.

To set up your tracker as a new device:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  4. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  5. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Nothing but problems with my Ionic since there was an iOS update.

My iPhone 7 Plus simply wouldn't take the new iOS.  I deleted the app, re-installed, no change.

I unpaired the Ionic from my iPhone but cannot re-pair it to the iPhone now.

The update bar doesn't budge. I've waited 30 minutes, started over, waited another 30 minutes, nothing.

I had these same exact problems with the Charge when there was an iOS update after 6 months.

I'm pretty close to dumping FitBit products altogether.

Was having the same problem/issue so did as outlined above....

I get to where the app says "found it!" with the  tick in the middle of the screen & down the bottom it says "connecting to tracker"......and nothing happens even after an hour+++++

Plus - the ionic does not show up in the list of Bluetooth devices even though screen says 'found it' & no other devices are connected by Bluetooth.

Suggestions??????

Hello @Maqqie, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Thanks for joining the conversation @iangmunt and @maudrid, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community.

@maudrid, at this moment I would like to suggest you to restart your Ionic by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Then, plug it in and make sure it's charging, remove any other Bluetooth devices that might interfere with the set up process and try to set up your tracker. Please tap on one of the buttons on the Ionic to wake it up and make sure your phone doesn't get locked. Try it and let me know the outcome.

@iangmunt, if the app gets stuck during "connecting to tracker" for several minutes, please force-quit the app by double tapping the home button and swipe up the app, then open it again and go to Account and check if the Ionic is showing up under your name. Please note that the Ionic will not appear in the list of paired devices under the Bluetooth settings on your phone unless Notifications or All-day Sync has been set up.

@Maqqie, thanks for replying to me, please try the troubleshooting steps described in my post above and let me know the outcome, I'll be waiting for your reply.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting for your reply.

when I am in the app you cannot swipe up as it is frozen looking for the tracker.

eventually sorted by

removing ionic from recognised/paired devices
removing fitbit app from phone
shutting down/restarting ionic
shutting down/rebooting iPhone
downloading app again
adding a ‘new ionic’

really gives me a lot of confidence (not) in the product if this is going to happen each time there is an upgrade.

Like many others here, I've been having some serious connection issues and find myself routinely having to troubleshoot various solutions. @MarcoGFitbit is there a reason Ionics are having so much trouble connecting via Bluetooth? Will/when there be a patch to fix the issue? It seems crazy to me that of all the Bluetooth devices I own, the only one that cant maintain a reliable connection with my Iphone is the most expensive one. Even my original Flex never had this issues.

I’m having the same problem with my ionic since tracker update was required.

Ive been to the boothtooth setting on my iPhone and Ionic says connected.

Ive deleted ionic and tried to set up as a new device but it’s unable to fine ionic via searching. There’s over 50% battery on ionic and have sat it on top on phone so it’s not a issue of not being close enough.. please help

thanks jade

I’ve also tried deleting fit bit app and restarting Fitbit.

It never gets past the search.. simply can’t find ionic, even though it’s been successfully connected since November last year

Have you turned off/rebooted your phone & also turned off your ionic (i think you do it from settings on the watch - instructions were in one of the earlier links.

So basically you have to get both ionic & phone back to a state as if they are both 'new'

- unpair ionic

- delete ionic from bluetooth

- delete app

- shutdown ionic

- reboot phone

then add a new device (your old ionic)

the upload should start like you are syncing etc for the very first time

Best of luck

Ian

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. I appreciate your input @iangmunt, thanks for all your help. Smiley Happy

I appreciate some of you have come back and let me know the troubleshooting steps you've tried in order to try to resolve this issue. At this moment, if your Ionic is still not syncing correctly, I would like to ask you to try the following:

  1. Go  to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Restart your phone
  3. Open the Fitbit app and tap on Account > Ionic
  4. Scroll down and enable All-day Sync.
  5. When a pop up appears asking you to "pair" your tracker, please do and continue with the process.

After that, please monitor your tracker for the next couple of days to check if it starts syncing. If it is, you can either leave All-day Sync enabled or disable it as the Bluetooth link with your tracker has been already established.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.
