I want to sync my Charge HR with my iPad. A computer or iPhone will not be used. I downloaded the latest version of the Fitbit mobile app to my iPad. I do not have an account on fitbit.com since I don't plan on using a computer for syncing. When I opened the mobile app I clicked on Join Fitbit. I supplied the info it asked for but then it asked for Full Name, e-mail address and Password. I supplied my name and the e-mail address I use for sending/receiving e-mail on my Mac (happens to be same as the iPad's appleID). I then supplied a new made up password. It refuses to accept the password or any I make up. Is there a restriction on what password it will accept? I don't have to have a fitbit.com web account in order for this mobile app to work do I? Does the password have to be "related" in some way to the e-mail address I supplied? Doesn't this password simply play the traditional role of guarding access to my mobile fitbit account? So, right now I can't Join Fitbit on my iPad. EricW38

Just sign up and get a Fitbit account using whatever email address and password you choose. You'll want to be able to get to your Fitbit account on occasion. The same account used to access the web version of the Fitbit site will be the same one you use to check it on your mobile.

Thanks for your reply - it encouraged me to try a different approach.

Previously, I didn't plan on involving my Mac in any syncing activities so I tried to create an account on my iPad only since I envisioned all dicovering of and syncing devices to be done by the iPad. So I launched the mobil app and it gave me two choices: Login or Join Fitbit.

I didn't choose Login because I didn't yet have an account to login to. So I chose Join Fibit figuring it would be the means to create an account. This approach failed because it wouldn't acept any of the paswords I tried.

So I gave up and created a web account at fitbit.com.

Then I launched the mobile app again and chose Login instead of Join Fitbit. I used the same e-mail address and password that I used to create the fitbit.com account. Bingo - that worked.

So it seems you must first create the fitbit.com account before creating accounts on the iPad or iPhone. I guess this is implied somewhere in the documentation but I don't remember it being explicitly stated.
