Lost days of steps. What happened?

Using iOS app on iPhone 5S.  Typically, all things have worked well using the phone to count steps.  From June 15 through June 26, NO steps were counted by the Fitbit App.  I have another app, Pedometer++ that shows my steps for those days.  What happened?  Was the app updated and maybe I didn't use it so it failed to log the steps? Do I need to go back and load them manually (what a pain!)? Do I need to actually run the Fitbit app every day to be sure the logging works?

Hello @ausphoche welcome to the Fitbit Community! I can not provide you an answer to what happened on those days but the latest app version was released on 06/30/2016 so it doesn't match the time frame your steps where not recorded, I found on this help article that you don't need to be logged in to the Fitbit App to record your steps.  Did you have to log back in after the 26th? Also to add the missing information you will need to manually log the activity as you mentioned since I assume you have synced after that and the information is still not showing.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Thank you. Yes, I did have to log in to use the app but I don't exactly remember when. That is what prompted me to ask.  I'm use to the app being a day or two out of sync sometimes... but this was a bit of a surprise because the gap was so large and by the time I was looking at it, I already had several days of  good data that looked normal. Actually, I can't tell you if the data was never there or if it got dropped. I tend to use the pedometer app because the data is quickly updated vs the Fitbit app that requires a sync.   I use the Fibit app because my company requires it for "proof of physical activity."  It's a great app, really, and I like the other functions when I choose to use them.  Thanks for the reply.  I now know what to do even if I don't know how to prevent it in the future.

Another piece of data that I don't know if it might be important to solving the mystery..  I get my weekly Fitbit emails regularly. I did not receive one on June 27 nor July 4th.  Is it because I logged no activity or some other reason the system didn't think it was important?
