Macronutrients

Not finding this very helpful. Added a 4 ounce piece of skinless grilled chicken breads to my log and it was listed as 140 calories of an unknown substance. REALLY???  Never heard of chicken? I wish I had the option of NOT tracking micronutrients. It's just frustrating and pretty useless in its present form.

I'm experiencing the same issue with proteins not being counted.
If I compare the macronutrients in the dashboard app, vs. the macronutrients in the fitbit browser log, the difference is huge. The macronutrients are not counted correctly in the app, and it hasn't since the day it's gone up. It doesn't properly count proteins. I just added a huge amount of protein powder, which barely has any fat or carbs, and the carbs meter went up to 85% while proteins are stuck at 10% - In reality, carbs should be around 45% and proteins around 25% with this input (I already ate some carbs in the morning).

Also, the totals don't add up to 100% - how weird is that?

Hi @PaarseOrchidee@rmgitzlaff thanks for posting on community with your question.

When adding foods, are you adding them via "custom foods" and creating a food in the app, or are you searching for foods that have already been added, and adding those foods to the log? Let me know!

Hi Callie,
I am indeed using custom foods, because I'm Belgian and lots of foods are not in the stardard database. I noticed that it isn't just the proteins that are off, sometimes it's the carbs / fat as well.
Some custom foods are logged just fine, and others don't get logged, or only partially (only the carbs e.g.)...
The browser log however does show the right percentages of macronutrients, even when I add custom foods.
Kind regards.

Thanks for the additional info @PaarseOrchidee

When adding a custom food, are you hitting the "Switch to detailed view" button and adding in information for carbs, fats, and proteins?

Best Answer

@CallieM Yes, I always fill in all the details.
The browser log doesn't have a problem with custom foods, it's only the desktop app that's off.

Thru my research the % calc is as follows:

carb is (carb*4)/Total Calories

fat is (fat*9)/Total Calories

protein is (protein*4)/Total Calories

My fitbit isn't using this formula.

What is it using?
