Manually added exercise no longer counting as active minutes

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I typically add my exercise in manually based on the class or program I do during that day. The time has always shown up on my dashboard as Weekly Exercize AND Active Minutes. Today, I tried to log an hour of Pilates manually and it is not showing up as Active minutes at all. I understand active minutes that are automatically logged are based on rigourous activity for longer than 10 minutes, but always in the past when I have manually logged, the data I enter overrides whatever was tracked by fitbit during that time period. Is anyone else having this issue?

Hello @Bea7953, thanks for joining us, it's great to have you on board.

When you log an activity, depending on the type of intensity of the exercise it will count active minutes. For example, if you log a treadmill or crossfit session, the active minutes will increase, if you log a Yoga or Pilates session it will not.

I hope this information can be helpful, in case you need anything else feel free to reply! Smiley Happy

Why would Pilates not count as active minutes? My class uses the reformer, which includes cardio, as well as resistance strength training.

@Susansol  Active minutes are based on a concept known as the Metabolic Equivalent or MET.  One MET is you at rest, doing nothing.  You must exercise at 3 METs in order to get active minutes.  Your METs are based on calorie burn.  You will get active minutes in your Pilates if your calorie burn meets the criteria.

Make sure you track your Pilates class with your tracker -- if you have the type of tracker with the Exercise app.  Pilates is on of the exercise shortcuts.

What tracker are you using?  I'm sure we can help you get the most from your tracker.

Hello @Susansol, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. It's nice to see you too @LZeeW, thanks for all your help. Smiley Happy

@Susansol, I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for posting your question. Please note that as @LZeeW mentioned, active minutes are based on METs and you will get active minutes for any activity when your METs meet the criteria.

As mentioned by @LZeeW too, knowing the tracker or watch you're currently using will be very helpful for us to check this further and determine what we should do next, so we will appreciate if you can come back with more details about this situation.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

Hello @Susansol, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply with the information requested. Smiley Happy

Please note that as your Flex 2 does not have a heart rate monitor, it relies on the movement of your arms to measure the intensity of your exercises, which explains why you're not receiving active minutes when performing a Pilates activity.

I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.
