I lost all my steps today (20,000+) when I added a new fitbit charge HR.
I unistalled and it would then not reinstall. So i deleted the app abd reinstalled the app and readded the Fitbit Charge HR as one of two device (the other is a flex)
Then I lost another 18,000+ steps.
I can't seem to find a FitBit answer to similar questions.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @The_Tree. It's great to have you here. I'm sorry to hear about your missing steps. You shouldn't lose data during the set up process, however there is a possibility this could be the cause of the problem. If you ever experience any other difficulty during the syncing process please refer to @DerrickS's troubleshooting steps to resolve syncing issues with iOS mobile devices.
As a workaround only, you can add steps to your account by manually logging activities like Walking, Running or Hiking. Please be aware these steps don't count towards Challenges, Best nor Badges. You can find your average steps in the online Dashboard.
