New flex won't connect during setup

Hi, 

 

I bought a new Fitbit flex a few days ago. I tried setting it up on my phone first - but friend with fitbit also setting up theirs was in room so I put it off for a bit. I had downloaded the app and started filling out the basic info.

 

When I went back to it, after charging to full lights, it still won't connect on my mac or iphone.

 

When I tap it, lights show up as if it were tracking progress (but not the double separated lights). My iphone and mac don't have it associated with my account though.

Let me help you out, I recommend performing a restart 2 or 3 times in a row make sure to follow the steps that @SunsetRunner shared and keep an eye on it.
