Option to log a mindfulness session

Hi Fitbit, I’m happy to see that you have a new mindfulness section in the app. I often do mindfulness sessions on my own and would like the feature to log a mindfulness session versus only using the mindfulness activities in the app to log one. Can this be added just like it is to all the other features? Thank you!

I’m wondering the same thing re: lack of mindfulness sessions. I looked forward to the sleep inducing sessions.

By reducing  “free” mindfulness sessions is the plan to increase Premium subscription?

Best Answer

It certainly seems so. There used to be 7-8 free mindfulness sessions from 2 to 15 minutes or so. Two for sleep which were very nice. Then all of a sudden (1-2 weeks ago) they were reduced to only two, I think 2 and 5 minutes. Useless! So I just skip it on the Fitbit App and use another mindfulness app on my phone. Seems Fitbit is being "penny wise and pound foolish".

I agree! This is really frustrating. I don't use premium, but they did have about 10-12 free choices. Now I can only find 2. They're both okay, but I like a ten minute practice, and now that's not an option. What gives, Fitbit?

I've just found out that the longer sessions of mindfulness were moved to "Discover".  Next time when there are changes, please let us know.

Thank-you! I didn’t think to look there!

I also use Headspace and wish it would let me log or link it to the fitbit

This is not an answer. I honestly can not believe this isn’t an option, it’s so simple and so needed. I’m seriously debating switching to Apple Watch.

I agree 100%. "Mindfulness" here is an Eastern/New Age/Secular approach, and that's ok with a lot of people. However, there are other approaches, too, such as Lectio Divine and Centering Prayer in Catholicism, Hesychasm in Eastern Orthodoxy, silent prayer in other branches of Christianity. This must become a feature or you will lose users. In the meanwhile, I'm going to "cheat" and let this run on silent while I do my own thing, but workarounds are not good for anyone. Thanks.

They can't even assure that you can log your FITBIT mindfulness sessions, let alone anything else...

I agree with you!

I think you can log your own meditation using one of the mindfulness audio clips under “relaxing sounds”. These are just music clips without a guiding speaker. Try them, maybe they work for you.

Best Answer

Silly that you can't log a meditation like forms of exercise.

Best Answer

Thanks. Could you tell me how exactly to get "relaxing sounds"? Under "Mindfulness", I just see "Mindful sessions" and a couple free short guided and a bunch of premium ones.

Im not getting any sound when I play a neditation or what a how to video

But to log a meditation like my YouTube meditarions I just select "Workout" and when I'm finished I use the edit pencil and change the name to meditating. Sweet, so I get my subliminal message through my Alexa and play my YouTube meditarions. Rain storm or guided hypno therapy and log it under (workout) then change the name after a blissful night. 💋

I have used Insight Timer for years and have meditated on my own for years and to not be able to log this because it’s not a part of their program is frustrating.

I just got this fitbit for a gift and am really disappointed in the lack of options in the mindfulness section of the app. I have a daily meditation practice and Fitbit does not allow me a way to log that time/activity.

I wrote the same thing in my review. Besides other things that are inconsistent and frustrating, the lack of options for logging mindfulness is at the top of my list.

Best Answer

Me too.  Surprised Fitbit hasn't done anything about this considering all the customer responses.

If you want to just select workout on your wrist, then you can change the name of the exercise to mindfulness on the app when you look at it but that needs to be on the list of activities on the Fitbit dashboard. I use this "workout" when I go to sleep then when I wake up I can change it to SLEEPING. WHICH I had to add the activity first on my dashboard. Amazingly the calories that I burn sleeping or more than any of my yoga exercises

I would really like to see the ability to log my own sessions or to have a little self-timer to meditate to. I don't find the supplied meditations helpful, but a reminder to meditate would be helpful.
