Phantom steps are being added to daily totals

Phantom steps are being added to my daily totals recorded between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM.  Plus the "today" step total does not agree with the detailed steps screen.  Today the phantom record is 7,485 steps... great performance since I was asleep.  The detailed steps screen shows a total of 27,642 steps but return to the today screen shows 35,127 steps.... the 7,485 steps of the phantom record.  The phantom record has been in the 100,000s.  I've had to delete the step record and manually add my walks.  Is there a fix.  I'm at the current app release.  Any help?

Hi there, @Mark-N.

Thanks for sharing this information with me, as well as your efforts while working on this matter. I understand how important it is to have accurate data recorded on your Fitbit app, and I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing this issue.

While this shouldn't be happening, could you check if you have MobileTrack connected to your phone? MobileTrack is a function that allows the Fitbit app to record basic information such as steps using your phone sensors. In case there was a fan or something vibrating next to your phone, it is possible that this function may have thought you were exercising and recorded extra steps.

Assuming this is correct, my best advice is to remove it from your account and see how it goes in the next few days. To do this, let's try the following steps:

  1. Open the Fitbit app on your phone
  2. Tap Devices at the upper left corner
  3. Select the option called Phone and tap Remove This Device

I tried all these.  Nothing.  It appears to occur when I use "Sync Solver" to synchronize Fitbit with iHealth... which worked perfectly before the app updates.

Hi there, @Mark-N.

Thanks for trying the suggestions posted above. Just to confirm, do you mean the steps duplicate only when using Sync Solver? If that's correct, do your steps duplicate on the Fitbit app? Or just on the iHealth app?

I'm asking this as if the issue is just with the iHealth app, I'd encourage you to get in touch with the Sync Solver support team so they can investigate, and provide you with assistance.

The issue is with the FitBit App.  Before I sync I clear the steps in the iHealth App.  Then when I sync the record is posted at midnight and it appears to duplicate/double any steps FitBit has recorded for the day.  The count on the main screen is higher than the count on the detail screen by the count of the midnight record.  The FitBit totals are accurately shown in iHealth, which includes the midnight record.
