Why is it everytime I am doing my tracking exercise like jogging or walking, it always says poor GPS connection although it can show the map and track my position fairly good, except for time and distance are mostly different from other GPS tracking wearable

Hi @xjoss with the Flex and Flex 2, the only way to get a GPS map is to use the Fitbit app. Their is no way to do this through these trackers.

Dieting these periods of pour reception you are getting the straight lines.

GPS is a line of sight technology. Will not work well in buildings, under heavy tree canopies. Heavy cloud cover, or by buildings.

Ideally your phone wants to connect with 4 satellites to receive location including altitude. 3 satellites are needed for location. Anything less then 3 satellites will not work.

Hi @xjoss what is it that you see this message on?

 m

May I ask what phone you are asking about? The Flex 2 doesn't have an option to track with GPS.

Do you see any straight lines in the recorded map?

Oo sorry, I am using iPhone X. Perhaps it's from the phone, the GPS
signaling. The Fitbit app shows the tracking maps of my walking/running
route. Yes, there are some straight lines and rounds too

Thanks for the reply. Yup, I guess we can discount the GPS or tracking it
correctly for now using Flex 2.

I am managing the tracker through Fitbit Apps in my iPhone. If I do it
without the apps (while I am walking or jogging), no maps revealed.

If I am using only apps with no Flex2, it can still be done. But the steps
going up too high (although this somehow makes me smile 😊).

Anyway, I am walking or jogging outside on the street in the open air with
no tall buildings around. I say the GPS tracking is quite good from the
apps and my iPhone.

Thanks again for the advise

When using the Mobile Track in the Fitbit app. This function ignores what the tracker collects.

It uses GPS to record the distance, then takes your stride setting to guess at the steps taken.

If Mobile Track reports to many steps, this usually is from having the stride set to short.

@Rich_Laue What you are saying (how the steps are calculated) sounds very new to me. Can you please post a source of this information? Thanks a lot.

This has been discussed on the council board.

When using mobile track, Fitbit now ignores the heart rate and steps that the tracker records.

Sorry I can't find much info on mobike track in help anymore. However I've seen several posts that confirm this and I've done my own test.
