Possible to receive texts from iPhone 4?

I have a Alta HR.    The fitbit app was not compatible with my iPhone 4, so I installed the app to my iPad.    Is it possible to receive text and calls alerts still from the phone?  (My iPad also gets the text messages sent to the phone.)
