I often wake in the night for 1-3 hours. I often sync my sleep then. Then I sync it in the morning and the REM sleep that had been showing in the first half of the night has reduced or vanished.
Like in these screenshots from last night. I initially had 45m rem sleep in the first half of the night but it all disappeared in the morning sync leaving me only 30m total REM (screenshots below). Like Fitbit said “oh now I’ve seen better REM sleep later on so that first lot doesn’t count”. Some of what it ends up marking as REM is me listening to meditations and podcasts while awake- I was awake from 1pm and did at least an hours worth of meditations, stretching and podcasts before dropping back off.
To be fair Fitbit does better than most devices I’ve tried ar telling sleep from just lying down but there’s definitely room for improvement. I feel like there is no point me trying to track or improve my amount of REM sleep as the figures are made up so randomly.
