I've been waiting for my Alta to arrive, and now that it has, a problem's popped up. Today, before the Alta arrived, I was browsing the mobile app and noticed that I had apparently burned 625 calories. I had only been awake for about 5 minutes, and hadn't been walking with my phone. Now that I have my Alta, I've notiched that (now it's the afternoon) I've burned 1300 calories. Is this a bug? I hadn't been walking with my phone, and as it stands, my Alta has only registered 60 steps (which is correct, (I've had it out of the box for about 10 minutes). Any suggestions on how to fix this? I'd rather have accurate data than have data that is so far removed from what I've actually been burning.

Welcome to fibit!
Don't worry - your fitbit is working just fine.
As well as tracking calories you burn through activity, your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. The calorie burn you are seeing includes the BMR calories burned since midnight. There is more information on this here:

Hello @DaveBurgess, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community!
As @SteveH mentioned, the calories you were able to see already burned are your BMR calories. At the moment you create your account and set up your tracker, it automatically estimates calories burned based on your gender, height, weight and other data in your account.
This is a normal behavior of the app and tracker, and you don't need to worry about it. In case you need anything else, please feel free to reply, I'll be happy to help!
