While I'm not an iOS user, I believe that Fitbit was piloting some proposed changes to the Fitbit App. I don't think everyone got the changes, and it sounds like you two were among the folks who got to play with the new dashboard. Considering how much angst there was when they changed the online dashboard, I can certainly understand their wanting to get more opinions before making it live to everyone.
@EmersonFitbit can probably provide more details.
