Are you referring to the food scanning too in the app? Which app are you using?

@Louise455 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well!

Let me help you with your bar code scanning. Have this happened before or is it the first time you scan this product? Still when you scan you get the option to submit an entry, please do so to improve the food database.

Let me know how it goes.

@Louise455   When you scan the item, is it the correct product, just the wrong brand?  For example, are you scanning Marks & Spencer's mustard and it is showing Sainbury's mustard?  Or is it completely wrong?

Hi @Louise455 - I would like to try to help you. I use an iPhone and several iPhone/Apple apps. It seems you are having trouble scanning food in order to track it as calories in the Fitbit app. Is this right?  If yes, could you please answer these questions so that I may help you?

  1. Which Fitbit device do you have?
  2. Which food scanning app are you using?
    1. Is it one you downloaded from the Apple App Store, like Weight Watchers? If so, what is the name of the app?
    2. Or is it an app you downloaded from the Fitbit app, going thru Fitbit —> Account —> Versa —> Apps. If so, what is the exact name of the app?
  3. Can you please explain what the problem is? What steps are you following and where is it going wrong?

Hopefully we can help you resolve this issue.

@SunsetRunner   Somehow the OPs original post got left behind in the move.  Here is the original thread

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Inspire-Inspire-HR/Scanning-product/m-p/3892931

I haven't mastered merging or I would put then back together.

What are your thoughts now that you know the real issue?

Thanks for that information, @Louise455 . I don’t see a food scanning app for my Versa or Versa 2 so I’m afraid I cannot give you a direct answer. But @AlvaroFitbit offered a good suggestion in the other thread. To avoid having you go back and forth, I’ve copied his response below. This could very well explain why the app is asking you to be more specific. It does not have your particular food in its database yet. This is pretty common in the various food scanning apps I’ve used.

Hopefully this resolves your issue!

@Louise455   Somehow your original post got split and separated.  I will re-add my comment here.  When you scan the product, are you getting a similar item, but just the wrong brand?  For example, are you scanning Marks & Spenser's mustard and you are getting Sainsbury's mustard?  Or are you getting something completely different and wrong?

I don't think there is anything wrong with your phone, app, or tracker.  Sounds like a food database problem.  Sometimes large food manufacturers will make the same product for different store private labels.  Usually, they have different UPCs.

And thanks to the user who put the thread back together!
