SpO2 app is installed but Fitbit app doesn't find it

Since the last App update (5 days ago), my Charge 6 is not recording SPO2.

I have restarted my FitBit, but the problem continues.

Hi - purchased a replacement  sense2 - lost my old clock face and selected a new sp02 one - installed but it says sp02 app not installed- when I try it says not available- but the watchface says it’s compatible with sense2 !
I seem to have a very limited amount of free clock faces and none to purchase ??
I have disconnected blue tooth and restarted and I have force stopped the fit bit app and re opened but no more clocks or sp02 app that will install ? Please help

Hi  @Vikbe - yes a Sense 2 has far fewer clocks available, as not all we're upgraded from older versions, and no extra apps are supported.

In addition if you live in the EEA you can only install Fitbit stuff.

However if you just got the watch and it doesn't have the latest firmware yet some things might not install.

You may have to wait a few days for the firmware to come or do a factory reset to force it.

Note, there are also country limitations on the use of SpO2.

This may be an issue with the latest update.  I also have a Sense 2 and after the latest update the Health Metrics SpO2 detail says I need to install the app even though it's installed and tracking data.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled the SpO2 app as well as uninstalling/reinstalling the Fitbit  app and still get the same messages.  Unfortunately, every update seems to break something that worked perfectly fine.

I received the app update today (v4.40), noticing that the health metrics display format has changed. All metrics are presented except for SpO2 which states 'No data App install needed'. After clicking on that, then 'Install the SpO2 app' leads to the install page which states 'not available'. Clicking on that button produces the message 'This app is not compatible with your fitbit device'.

Clearly something has gone wrong here. It seems the incorrect app has been included with the update. Considering the update contained 'Bug fixes' it appears that one has been created instead. Please fix this asap! Hopefully this won't take 5 months like the ECG printout (failure) bug created by the 4.26 update!

(I think this bug might have been reported in another thread)

In addition to the information I've provided, the SpO2 app install page
also states that 'your watch needs to run Fitbit OS v128.4.15'. I'm not
sure which device this version actually belongs to, but it's not the Charge
6, not even close! I'm still running firmware version 210.26 (I'm assuming
that's what it is meant by' Fitbit OS version').

BTW, should I not have v214.24 by now? Was this 'bug fix' update supposed
to fix a bug contained in that firmware update? Did this problem occur
because I don't have that update?

I have v214.24, and have the same problem. I suspect an ambitious coder did not know the different version for Fitbit, and put pixel 3 versions.

Update:

Today I did get overnight SpO2 readings. My theory is the update wiped out all baseline data, so apps that need baselines didn't work. It's like you just added the watch to your phone. For SpO2, you need to wear it at least overnight one night, before it begins to work on the second night.

That advertisement for "get the SpO2 app", is likely only for watches that can use the SpO2 watch face. This is not applicable to my Charge 6. It also wiped out all records before 2025. I have no SpO2 information earlier than January 2025. The "year" field is not a sliding window anymore, it is now Calendar year. So export your data in December, if you need an actual year's worth of records.

Having the same problem with my Fitbit Luxe

I'm getting the exact same issue with my Charge 5 as of this morning. SPO2 was tracking fine yesterday and now I'm getting a message that the app isn't compatible with my device.

See if it returns tomorrow. When the calculations are not complete it falsely claims "app not compatible". But once new baseline data is collected, it might return. But it takes time to get to a number. My overnight SpO2 on my charge 6 failed on Friday. I had it Thursday, none on Friday, but it returned Saturday. Today, it still functions, although the incompatible app warning is still there. I think it was a poor software update that was poorly pushed to us. But the function will come back.

To date, no current day SpO2 data is present in the health metrics report
but previous days data is. The SpO2 app is still listed as 'Not Available'
and 'This app is not compatible with your device'. In other words, no
change regarding app status has occurred.

Okay, so something else is amiss. The update seems to be screwed up, and needs to be fixed. One reason why mine may have come back, is because I re-added my charge 6 to the phone, which is why mine behaved as if it was a new device. Google/Fitbit have work to do, and quickly.

I also thought that SpO2 fell into the "medical device" category, like EKG. Changes here, I thought, had to be approved by a health organization regulator, including the interpretation and display of results.

It would be really nice if they would stop rolling out 'features' nobody is
asking for and messing up things that were working fine in the process ...

Hi everyone, and a warm welcome to our new members.

Thanks for sharing additional information, and your efforts while working on this matter. I understand where you're coming from and I apologize for this inconvenience. While our team investigates this situation, I'd like to suggest the following steps to see if it helps to get your SpO2 readings on the Fitbit app:

  1. Check on your phone if you are using a VPN; if you do, turn it off while troubleshooting the Fitbit app.
  2. If you are using Wi-Fi, switch it to mobile data or vice versa.
  3. Check if the SpO2 app is installed and all permissions are enabled. If you have a Smartwatch, try using a SpO2 clock face such as Signature.
  4. Wear your Fitbit device at night and sync once you're awake to check your details.

Let me know how it goes afterward.

Done that, doesn't make a skerric of difference! Still reporting previous
days SpO2 but not today's. App still 'not available for this device'.
Please troubleshoot properly!

BTW, my device is an Android one (v12) not IOS. I never stated that, so
don't know how that info came to be associated with my Community handle!
