Step data miscalculating for graphs

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For the past couple days (not sure exactly when it started) the iOS app has been miscalculating step data for the bar graphs. For instance, a week with 18,800 steps came up with a weekly step average of 4250/day, when it should be 2685 or so. And yes, I’m going by the exact dates of the week determined by the app. Historical monthly averages from 2019 and 2020 are coming up with 11,000-17,000/ day averages; I have a muscle disease, and these numbers are impossible for me, I know that 6,000 were tops in 2019 and 3,000-4250 in 2020.

The source data in the daily list page is accurate. It’s only on the graphical pages that the errors become evident.

@LiliyaFitbit yes, I contacted support, but no, they did not solve the problem. It’s a glitch in the programming of the app calculating the bar graphs, I suspect. It continues to occur. It is sporadic and inconsistent in terms of what months/ weeks are affected, but occurs with the “3 mo” and “1yr” views on the bar graph data. Some times when I log on I’ll get accurate images, other times it will be many times more than I could have possibly walked. It makes it impossible to see accurate trends over time.

the source data in the list of steps per date has remained accurate, it seems. And the single date bar graphs seem accurate consistently.

@LiliyaFitbit

here a couple of screenshots of the same graphs a few minutes apart, showing how different they can be.

 The shot above is an accurate graph, my weekly total the week above “apr” was 18,000 steps or so, and the average should be 2,600.

I noticed this issue when the injury and drop in steps wasn’t showing up, and I was consistently getting a graph like this showing over 4,000 steps a day for that week, which couldn’t have been correct. With the glitch that’s causing these erroneous graphs, this is the one that’s most often showing up. You can also see the current week’s count is inflated, as well.

 If you look at the “1y” view, the graph is inflated as well. My daily step count has averaged around 4,000 for 2021. This graph is showing 6000-21,000! That’s not possible with my muscle disease.

If I scroll back to show my doctor a similar injury, at that time in 2019 I was averaging 6000 steps a day. This glitch in the programming is causing a problem with the graphs to show random 44,000 and 34,000 step averages, and the baseline shifts to 15,000.

How does someone report a problem  like this with the app?  Support doesn’t get it. Apparently this isn’t the place?  Is that something you can help facilitate?

thanks,

Sarah
