We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I have a Fitbit Charge 2 and iPhone 6S that has not received notifications since updating to iOS 13 a month ago.  Today on my iPhone I went to Settings, Notifications, Messages and chose Always for Show Previews.  This is the only change I made from my previous set up and now I am receiving text notifications and phone calls on my Fitbit.  What a relief!

(For Android users like me) to clarify my previous post: since Oct 2, my bracelet will track steps, but that information will not relay to the Fitbit app on my phone. Based on several Google searches, Geek Squad consultation,  Verizon consultation, and some critical thinking, I have tried:

1. Reboot my phone.

2. Reboot Fitbit app.

3. Reboot Fitbit bracelet.

4. Repeat 1-3 with bracelet fully charged.

5. Uninstall and reinstall Fitbit app.

6. Reboot Bluetooth.

7. Reboot Bluetooth with Fitbit bracelet being the only Bluetooth device within range.

8. Unpair and (unsuccessfully) repair Fitbit bracelet to Bluetooth.

9. Unpair and (unsuccessfully) repair Fitbit bracelet to Fitbit app.

10. Repeat 1-3 and 7-9 while Fitbit is charging.

11. Probably some other troubleshooting I've already forgotten.

All attempts were unsuccessful. At the very least, the bracelet was covered under a one year warranty.

I was unable to receive only texts after the IOS 13 update. As an interim fix, if you go to settings, notifications, show previews and change it to "always", you will receive texts. The downfall, your texts are previewed from a locked screen on your phone. I do not like this as a long-term solution and hope fitbit will release a fix shortly. This IOS has been out for a while lately and there should already be a fix.

I would really like some help with this! My Versa has not been syncing all day, so I removed the device from my iPhone in order to hopefully reconnect it.

However now it won't sync at all, and won't reconnect to my iPhone - states devicebit.pairvalidatorerror error 1

Folks,

I went through similar prompts to no avail.  What worked for me today, which didn't work for me yesterday when I also tried it was to:

1) Delete the app from your iPhone

2) Re-install the app

3) Follow the simple prompts re allowing notifications, etc.

No data was lost, so this was a relatively simple fix, at least for me.

What did you do to get your steps to cross over into your challenges, like I am in one right now with my family which is the workweek hustle and my steps are going over into it. What did you do that worked?

did not work at all.

why are you so slow to provide an update when your failed instructions are more than 13 days old?

do we just purchase a different brand and throw the failed fit bits in the bin?

also, it keeps ringing to tell you you're in an active call... i know!!  i answered the phone.  what a useless feature... what twit thought of that pathetic function.

Getting the dreaded “red x” Data not clear sync & try again. This was after an iPhone upgrade to the 11 Pro Max.

You can change that to when "unlocked" and you should still get notifications on your fitbit.
