Is it possible that the fitbit ionic or the fitbit app doesn't recognize the swim any more? I used to swim and automatically it was registered on the app without doing anything. Since last week it doesn't do it any more.... Is it the watch or the app?

Hello @Stevenlambert and a warm welcome.  It might be the Ionic or the app.  The first recommended troubleshooting step for the Ionic is a restart.  Some people recommend restarting the device 2-3 times.  Press and hold the bottom and the back buttons for several seconds.  It could be the app if the swim auto-recognition got turned off.  Weird stuff happen.  Tap on your exercise tile > gear icon > make sure Swimming has not been turned off.

See if that helps.

Done all that yesterday. Today I swim 4000m. Fitbit registered 500m.....

Could it be the watch? Or firmware bugs?
