I keep trying to obey the instruction to switch my Fitbit to a Google account. This is refused, as it says this account is already in use for a different kit to my Charge 5 watch. I can find no information in my Google profile but I suspect it refers to a basic clip-on Fitbit I registered back in 1996 which has long departed to silicon heaven after only a year of use [confirmed when I scroll back to data for that year]. I don't want to set up a new Google address, so how do I make the switch?

Hi there, @DaiSmile.
Thanks for sharing these details with me. Before anything else, I'd like to clarify that the Charge 5 is a device worn on your wrist which was released back in 2021. That being said, are you logged into your account when doing this process? Or, are you trying to create a Google account?
Assuming you had a Fitbit account in the past, you'll only need to log in and proceed with the migration. For more details, please see this help article and keep in mind that you can always reset your password with the steps described here.

Yes, it's a Charge 5 watch. I have tried logging into both my Fitbit and Google accounts to make the transfer and both say my Google account is already associated with other kit and I must set up a new Google account. I don't want yet another account to cause possible future confusion. I just want my existing Google account cleansed of the other kit. I assume it is a basic Fitbit I used briefly ages ago, as if I scroll back on my usage stats there are blanks before 2021 until a record for1996.
