I am having a problem with the skin on my hands and have been depending on MobileTrack instead of my Alta. Yesterday I walked over 18,000 steps and when I came home and my Alta synced, all of the steps were erased.
However, this has also happened when wearing my Alta. I thought maybe it and MobileTrack were canceling aech other out, but I didn't wear my Alta yesterday.
I've stuck with Fitbit because of the software and social features of the app, but if I can't count on the app to remember how many steps I take, what use is it? Note some other weirdness on other days: I'm pretty lazy, but I know I took more than 4 steps while carrying my phone on August 3rd!
Note that Apple Health app has all 18,212 steps, and Fitbit app shows that I walked 10 km but only 21 steps.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @SunsetRunner, before considering further options, try logging out of the application, reboot your phone and then log back in to the Fitbit App. Confirm if these simple steps help you to sync the missing data in your stats. I hope this helps, keep me posted.
