Syncing foods with scanner

  • How does the syncing work? I am curious why Fitbit will not allow for a scan of food items to be logged into the food or custom database without typing everything in by “finger”

Syncing foods into custom database with scanner rather than entering each food by hand, cannot be that much of a stretch as scanner entry is already built in so now why not be able to add those scanned foods to database for future daily use?

Hello again @FastForward

I personally don’t use the barcode feature. But to have a better understanding of your question I turned on my scanning feature and scanned my first item just moments ago. Once I was done I could see the item I scanned sitting there in both my frequent food as well as my recent food. I then logged out of my Fitbit App then logged back on again and the recent food I scanned was still there. I didn’t have to rescan it at all. Are you looking on the Fitbit App or the Dashboard to locate your food item you already scanned. Here is how I found it. Maybe this will help you too....

open your Fitbit App

tap your food tile using the plus side to the right

the food you scanned will be listed under your frequent as well as your recent.
(I see it also on my Dashboard but the font size is preferred on my Fitbit App)
😉 Maybe this helps a bit

Hello and welcome @FastForward

I understand you have questions about the Barcode scanning and how to add them to your food database. I think you will find your answer here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1375/?q=Barcode&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1 Pay special attention to “How do I log food in the Fitbit app”. Barcode scanner is covered there.

😃 Please let me know if this indeed answers your question. Keep me posted

Good afternoon

I understand the process of adding food items as per my meals throughout
the day.

The question I have is let say I have a CheezWhiz sandwich with a slice
of packaged whole wheat bread and mayo. So I can scan each package and
pull off the quantity and nutrition for each item and have it added to
my daily food intake, BUT, how can I log those items noted once scanned
into the data base so I do not have to keep pulling the bottle of
CheezWhiz out of the fridge a re-scan the label, why cannot I just go to
the list and choose then newly added items from my now expanded database?

I guess simply put ... how do I expand my personal data base (the one
provided though FitBit app) so it includes more food choices that I find
that I eat regularly.
