I'm using a Fitbit Versa 2 running firmware v 35.72.1.23 on an iPhone 13 Mini with IOS 26.4 and using the FitBit app v 4.65 (46528035)
As of a few days ago every time I try to sync using the app by pulling the screen down on the Today screen the sync starts and the progress of the sync as indicated by the status bar moving/turning dark green appears to work until the status bar completes about half way across the screen and gets to just under the O in the "Today" at the top of the home screen and then the remaining half of the status bar quickly turns solid all the way to the end and then the message "Couldn't sync your Versa 2" appears.
It appears that all of the data collected on the Versa is on the app on my phone. If I touch the device icon for the Versa 2 in the top left of the app screen it opens a "Connected to Fitbit Screen" and then under my device it says "Syncing" and then says "Synced". If I touch my device it opens a screen which shows a clock face and some settings. It also has a sync button in the upper right which when tapped says "syncing" and in about 10 seconds says "Synced Today, HH:MM".
In other words, the sync appears to always upload the all of the data from the Versa to the app but still generates the error message when on the Today screen. When starting the sync from the device screen it always completes the sync without an error message.
I was initially thinking that there was a problem with the Versa 2. I have two Versa 2s and removed (disconnected) one and then paired the other and the 2nd Versa 2 generated the same results as the first.
I reset one of them to factory default and re-setup and still the same.
I deleted and reinstalled the app and still the same.
I did all of the other usual stuff such as Bluetooth on/off, Bluetooth forget and then repair, phone and Versa 2 powered down and then powered back up and still the same.
I logged on to my web Fitbit account and can't find any of the data from my Versa 2 on the dashboard that I used to see. I suspect that the sync on the Today screen is actually syncing to both the IOS app and to the web but the web upload to the dashboard has been disabled by Alphabet. Alphabet unfortunately has a habit of making changes without properly testing them or when a bug is uncovered communicating to the users. I'm sure that there have been a lot of us who have spent hours troubleshooting what we thing is a problem with our device of phone only to find that Alphabet (Google) has changed something.
Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

The problem cleared up without any changes being made on my side. I expect that Google had a problem or made some changes that introduced an error to some server side process that the watch sync process uses and that Google fixed it within a couple of days. I was tempted to just delete this post but decided that since it might happen again that I would leave this problem description here along with the suggestion that if you see the problem described here and you know that your data is appearing in the app then just ignore the error for a few days to see if the problem clears up before spending time trouble shooting.
