Personally, I'd like to be able to see detailed metrics for GPS-enabled exercise; for example, I have to use Endomondo to save my routes (or find other user-contributed routes), and view graphs of my pace/altitude/speed at any given point in my workout (as well as other things like total elevation). It kind of sucks to just get an average speed for the whole hike/run, when you've taken like a break to enjoy the scenery a bit. Since fitbit is so big on data and graphs, is it so hard to have a more detailed look at your exercise, and to overlay that with heart rate?
What is unique to fitbit is the huge social community. I feel like it could be improved by allowing users to create their own groups, or user-enabled challenges, or even just the ability to find and share routes. As it stands, the group for my locale (which is huge both in terms of population and geographic area) just has daily posts of people's step counts or stairs, so I literally never use the "community"--it's utterly pointless except to see my friend's stats.
What are some things you think could be improved?

If you are not seeing a route map, you are probably not connected to GPS.
Without knowing which fitbit model you are using, it's hard to give more help, but here is more info about using GPS with Fitbit:
How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

@Jaraya -
As @JohnnyRow stated, it sounds like you are not enabling GPS for your exercise - - - and you didn't mention what FitBit device you have, unless I missed it, which will tell us if the device can even support GPS and provide you with maps and elevation data.
I don't take off on long cross-country runs anymore, or long bike rides. But I do take walks around my town when I am not on the treadmill, and my exercise records for my walks show route, pace, elevation, heart rate and average calorie burn at any point during the walk. Here, at 08:28 into a nearly 30-minute walk at just under three-mph average, I am at .41 miles, at an elevation of 89 feet, with a heart rate of 102 and with a calorie burn of 7.1 calories per minute:
Let us know what it is that we are not understanding. Both JohnnyRow and I, as well as many others, are happy to help.
And welcome to the boards.

On the web based dashboard, even through the phone, you will find a lot more details then through the Fitbit app.
