The "share" button needs to be restored!

I've been reading through the other "answered" threads, but all of the official answers are incredibly vague and not helpful. The app store still shows the share button in the preview photos, which is like a slap in the face! This has been an integral part of my use of my Fitbit, and it being removed because of "testing new aesthetics" (i.e. the repetitive "Your Fitbit app may look different from your friend's" and "you're using a new app look that we're trying out") is absolutely unfair to your loyal users. Restore this feature and stop ignoring the complaints of your customer base, its incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. I expect a proper answer on why this feature was removed from the development team, if you intent to never fix it. Thank you for reading.

Hi @AngelArty  this is from one of the Fitbit Moderator posts last month: "According to the information from our team, it looks like you're using a new app look that we're trying out. We're always looking to improve our products, so if the design we're testing is successful, you may see elements of it in a future version of the app. I appreciate your understanding. As an option, you can tap the Community tab > tap the running man icon > tap Dashboard and share your stats. "

When we use the Fitbit and their services, we aren't given details on the inner workings of their developers. No company is going to tell you what is considered private information. The Moderator gave an option that you can use. Have you tried it?

Hi there. Actually many companies share their reasons for changing services, especially simple aesthetic changes like colour palettes or buttons, that is not private information. If you had read the other threads, you would know that the option provided only works for the active day you are in, meaning you can never share your total activity (unless you somehow catch it at 11:59pm) because the day will already be over. This also prevents us from sharing any past days we might have missed. I appreciate that you are seemingly trying to help, but we should be allowed to express our frustrations with the company and expect a professional response. Thanks 🙂

Actually, @AngelArty , I did a search and read quite a few threads, which is why I was able to post a quote from the moderator. Your post said: " I expect a proper answer on why this feature was removed from the development team, if you intent to never fix it. " but the fact is that the development team doesn't post on these forums. These are the community forums, where users of the Fitbit products post and share. The only Fitbit presence is the Moderator team, which responds as needed. Guess this doesn't apply to me, as I don't share my stats with friends. Be sure to check the Feature Suggestions area because there are a few suggestions where people want this changed - it's where you can vote for it.

Yes, I had already read that quote you sent me many times as its been copy pasted all over my the Mods. You're taking my words way too literally for some reason, I don't expect to hear from developers directly. If the moderator team has no communication with other parts of the company, then what is the point for them to even be answering questions about the details of the app? I see the moderators claiming to know why this change happened, is their knowledge of the company one way? I just find this whole thing ridiculous, I will be complaining directly to customer service from now on as apparently their own community forums aren't taken seriously by those in control.

I share your frustration AngelArty. I feel like fitbit has gone to trash since Google acquired it. They are obviously trying to get us active in the fitbit community rather than giving us freedom to connect outside of it. I am frustrated there seems to be no way to share my activity from a past day anymore as well. It used to be so easy to share, and now it is so difficult. Sharing activity with the fitbit logo on it is free advertising for them! Why would they want to prevent us from doing that. I'm thinking about using a different fitness tracker now. The constant prompts to join premium are also annoying to me.

I share my frustration with other users. The FitBit moderators are not answering the questions directly because (a) they cannot since they have no communication with developers and therefore have no knowledge of the innerworkings of the devices or (b) they don't care enough and are just a front for the company and therefore only give vague answers.

Here are my questions (again).

Why did they eliminate the Fitbit share button?

Here are their answers (again) all unsatisfactory.

- we are testing new aesthetics

- it did not happen to everyone, only a select few

- you can still share via dashboard (no, because if you miss sharing on the very day you cannot go back and share the previous day)

- we are continuing to develop new features

This is all infuriating. The only reason I have not stopped using FitBit is because of the step count right on the clock face which does not happen with the Apple Watch.

It's very hard to find a place to "vote" - they keep changing the location of the comments.

You need to add that information to the user manual.  I'm perfectly happy to add two extra touches in order to share my Fitbit stats, but it's taken meput YEARS to come upon this information!  Fitbit could have handled this situation much better.  Why not just put a little Share button at the top of the screen on the Today screen?

And yet in only three days since I wrote the above reply, the situation has changed.  After selecting "Share elsewhere," on 1/15 I had the option to Save to Photos.  That option has been replaced with Save to Files, and I no longer can find an option to save it to my Photos.  What gives?!
