Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

I feel the same way just replaced my old inspire HR with an inspire 3 and I like how it works but this new app is just awful. I doubt it will happen but I hope they are listening to all of these complaints and suggestions and give us back what we want.

Utter rubbish. So disappointing when the old dashboard was perfect. Now it's dull, clunky and so more time consuming. I'm now just waiting for the rise in premium subscription to pay for the update that nobody wanted. When that happens you'll be losing another Premium customer.

Well I would love for them to roll it right back in because it's terrible.  I absolutely despise this new app layout, it's so ugly and bland and not user friendly.  Where are my start and end times for my exercises?  It just gives me a vague start time and inaccurate duration.  Why doesn't it show me clearly how long i spent in fat burn, cardio and peak anymore?  Instead it says something like light, moderate and vigorous, with a tiny little graph in various shades of vomit green and poop mustard.  That does not tell me what i want to know. I want to know exactly what zone I was in, and for how long. It used to show all this before so who thought it was a good idea to REMOVE important and useful information from the display, and to make it less customisable?  How is that an improvement can somebody please explain this to me? Why did they change it, it was great how it was, who was complaining about the layout? Now I don't even feel like looking at it because of how disgusting it looks, giant icons, white space everywhere, and one awful shade of green. The old colours were pleasing to the eye, the blues and oranges and pinks and yellows, It was such a pleasure to open and use the app and now I dread it  Just change it back to exactly how it was please, and put back our battery percentage for goodness sake.

Who were the beta testers? Doesn't the product manager listen to the feedback of the beta testers?
No one clear in his mind that was used to the prior version would have approved of this version.
It's far less customizable then the prior one!

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!   Interestingly I went to my Fitbit dashboard on Chrome and low and behold there was something close to the old format.  I was actually able to put in my morning Yoga which was one that I had created years ago and is lost on the new iphone app.  Mind you, the font on Chrome for Dashboard is miniscule but at least it's there.  On a computer it's possible to read it w/o a magnifying glass.  God knows why Fitbit thinks this is an improvement.

You are 100% correct.  Plus virtually no info on how to use or where old data might be hidden.

That's one of the biggest sins of this ''update'' for me.  The heart rate zones were so clear and so beautiful to see, nice and colourful and you could read it in seconds and feel satisfied with how long you spent in each zone just by a glance.  I want it back to exactly how it was. Why on earth did they change it.

I canceled my premium subscription today and only intend to renew if this madness is corrected

Just a dreadful update … Totally uninspiring, drab     and awful to use.
Why was battery charge info left out ?

I won’t be recommending this type of tracker to friends and colleagues any more .
I’m very annoyed and upset that I haven’t got the choice of reverting back to the old style.

If you have an iPhone and have it backed up to the cloud. Wipe the iPhone and restore it using a backup from before you updated the app. I have just done that and have the old version back which I won’t be updating again!

It JUST occurs to me that this is exactly what they are doing.  Destroy the app and then… offer the old one for a premium subscription… I already have my old Apple Watch on and downloaded the app Streaks to get what I needed.  This is devious and … greedy

AND all of our complaints are basically a huge free focus group. They can collect data to determine which features are most desired.  Then unveil a tiered premium subscription.   For those Fitbit members with free Medicare Fitbit’s I hope they at least offer what elders need on the app for free.   This is devious. And I’m never going to buy a google product again.

@Lmssian !!!

what???  How did you do this???

I was hoping that when Google acquired Fitbit there would have been some improvements, but I should have known better. Google has a track record of discontinuing support of many of its popular applications. A friend and I were talking about this very thing the other night. He's looking for a new podcast app since they are shutting down Google Podcasts next year, and wanting people to move over to YouTube Music.

The new app is not user friendly at all.

I love Fitbit this is my third fit bit I buy, did the update and my watch won’t sync like it did with the other app. An Apple Watch is starting to sound good right about now, I hate not being able to find my information right away like it used to with the old version. Fit bit fix it!

Another unhappy user. Please go back to the previous format.

I totally agree,  everything is “averages”. I want my old data back.   I only track steps and I liked to go back and see how I have increased/decreased steps.  Not at all happy!!

This new app is awful. It’s telling me in my activity that I’ve been been cycling! I have not. Unreal. Didn’t anyone test this out before rolling it out? Unreal.

Best Answer

Right!?! I have half a mind to ditch this one and get a cheapie version!

I have to say that after having different Fitbit devices for many years I will not be buying another one unless the new app improves its user interface.

Not only in my opinion has a necessary feature, the battery level, been removed I now cannot see a highlighted summary of steps, my main target, on the first page of the summary.

C’mon Fitbit sort yourselves out & provide your customers with their needs as opposed to making changes, without any obvious reference to your your customer requirements.

I await your response prior to buying an alternative fitness tracker.

I checked when my phone last backed up. If it was before you updated the app you need to Settings>General>transfer or reset iPhone>erase iPhone. In the process do not back up the phone before erasing.
When reloading my iPhone from basically new, I chose to do it manually, then from iCloud backup and selected the last one which was 2 days before I updated the app.
I now have my phone as normal as it was 2 days ago with the old Fitbit app.
