Tracked Hikes not syncing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
iOS 9.3.2. FitBit app 2.22.1 (495)
App refuses to sync mapped hikes/walks to deliver mile splits, calorie outputs, etc for over a week now. Tracks fine, generates map, refuses to sync to servers.
Tried app restart & phone restart both failed to fix issue. Tried using cellular data & wifi, combined and each separate w/ no result.
Yes, I know I can manually enter the hike. That is not a bug fix...it's a work around.

How is this issue going?! Just did a hike on Saturday...and it did not sync, just like my 17 hikes before that have yet to sync. And like another poster mentioned, it was recorded that I did a workout in the middle of my hike. This issue has gone on for WAY too long now. Do not tell me to manually log my hikes either. That is not a solution. If I wanted to manually enter my workouts, i wouldn't have the Fitbit!

I had to finally succumb to downloading another app for tracking.  As I am training for a half marathon I really needed to be able to analyze the data.  I’ve downloaded the MapMyHike from Under Armour.  It’s actually a nice app for tracking Hikes and Runs.

Well it appears that this issue is not going anywhere. It has been an issue since April and there is no indication that an actual fix is in sight. There is obviously no communication between tech support and the software engineers. Over 5 months of "bare with us while we figure this out" is not acceptable. Like many other customers, I'm also done with the company and their non solutions such as reinstalling the app or manually logging the exercise. As a result, I've broken up with my Fitbit and the app. I have been trying other tracking apps and will most likely be purchasing an Apple Watch 2 in the near future.

I've been using Strava...which is a good alternative as far as an app...but again...I have a Fitbit watch and tracker...one I spent nearly $200 on. So, it's very discouraging when a simple app doesn't work. Especially when I see that my walks and runs and workouts are syncing....so why the he🏒🏒 can't they figure out the **ahem** hike syncing issuing?!?!? And if I get a response from "Derrick" over at Fitbit telling me to bare with them...I'm switching to Garmin or the MOOV NOW. At least those are waterproof!!!!

Hate to revive such an old post but my new charge is having a similar issue, If I start a Hike from the C2 the app will be continually failing to sync until I stop the hike. It does a successful sync after stopping but that precludes using the map or any data in the app.

Hello @EEP_706, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Please keep in mind that all GPS devices, whether your phone or your tracker connected to your phone, require a direct path to these satellites in order to receive their radio transmissions. If the signal is being blocked—either because you're underground, near many tall buildings, or as a result of atmospheric effects—GPS will not work.  In this case I would like to suggest you to check the following:

  • Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and your tracker is connected (paired) to the phone. To confirm, go into your phone's Bluetooth settings and make sure you see Charge 2 on the list of devices.
  • You selected an exercise type from the Exercise menu that has a gear icon in the bottom left corner. The gear icon represents connected GPS.
  • GPS is turned on for the exercise type. Tap the gear icon and make sure the Use Phone GPS setting is on.
  • Your phone is within about 20 feet of your tracker.
  • The Fitbit app is open on your phone or running in the background. Do not force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone.
  • Go to your phone Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Fitbit and make sure Allow Location Access is set up to Always

After checking these requirements, please try to perform a GPS exercise once again. If you're still having difficulties, please let me know if you're seeing the alert in the app or in your tracker and reply to me with either a picture of your tracker displaying the message or a screenshot of the app displaying the message.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply as well.
