Unable to add friends in the app.

On my iphone app it only shows friends w/out fitbit. It doesnt show all my contact's. I cant even look up someone by email since there not on the list. Even with facebook its the same I can only pick from the list. I cant just look up anyone.

Hello @ninasoto26, thanks for joining us, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community!

When you're trying to add friends, if you select Contacts, it will only show a list of your contacts who don't have a Fitbit account, on the contrary, when you tap on Facebook and connect your account, the list will only show your friends who already have a Fitbit account. Now, in order to add friends that are not on either of those lists, you can tap on Email. In here you will be given the option to type in the email of the person that you want to add, it will now show a list. 

Once the addres has been typed in, you will be able to see a button to add the person who owns that email as your friend.

Is there a way to add friends just by looking them up? Say if you don't have them as a FB friend..or have their email... or saved as a contact in your phone. 

Can you just just flat out search for someone?

I don't think so. I think you have to have them as a contact

@LassoLily11, thank you for taking the time to reply and letting me know your issue has now been resolved, I'm very glad.

@RoyaDanielle, it is possible to add friends if you have their email address and if they have a Fitbit account even if they're not in your contacts, simply look for them in the Find Friends screen, they will appear once you search the email.

It’s very strange. I added my friends via the address book as they appeared as contacts with a Fitbit; however when I tried to add a contact today, I was not able to do so. It’s more of an effort to get an email address over clicking on a contact.

I tried adding friends with username as they do not have an email or facebook.  It doesn't work!!  Others have tried this also and can't add a friend and were told that fitbit didn't have a solution to the problem right now???  I am hearing lots of complaints over issues not being addressed with the same answer.  Time to look at other products!!

You can search for them by username but it is not working right now and fitbit has no answer!!
