Unable to add new device Fitbit Alta to IPhone

Can anyone please assist. Was given a Fitbit Alta for my bday on 02nov but unable to add device to my iphone5. I hv turned phone off and on constantly over 2 days as well as Bluetooth. Phone does not hv any other Bluetooth gadgets synced. The Fitbit is fully charged and is still saying www.fitbit.com/setup . No syncing possible at all. Please assist urgently. I am in Tasmania, Australia

Happy birthday, @Karew! Sorry about the issues you're having. Not a good way to celebrate a birthday. Let me ask you this -- Are you trying to set up your Alta from the app on your iPhone? Please try this -- 

  • If the Fitbit app is on your iPhone, delete it. Then re-install it. If you did not have it on your iPhone, go to the App Store, search for Fitbit, and download the free app.
  • On your phone, go to the Bluetooth settings and "forget" the Alta.
  • Open the Fitbit app and tap the Account icon at the top, right of the screen. (It looks like an index card)
  • Tap Set Up a Device and follow instructions from there. You will be prompted to pair the Alta to your iPhone.
