Unable to edit activity name

I am unable to edit Run type exercise. For other exercise types (e.g Walk) a pencil feature is available in order to change this exercise type to say a Run but this is not available when the exercise type has originally been recorded as a Run.

Hi @djm1. Welcome! It's nice to see a new member around and let me help up with your inquiry.

First of all, since you mentioned to see a pencil icon, that means that you're on your fitbit.com dashboard and not the Fitbit app. That being said, please let me explain that when an activity is auto-recognized by your Fitbit device using SmartTrack, you'll be able to edit the name of this activity if it was recognized incorrectly. However, if the activity was recorded with the exercise app on your Fitbit device, this option will not be available. I'm sorry for this inconvenience and what you can do is to delete that activity and manually log it so it can reflect the correct name.

I'll be around if you have any other question.

In what universe is "delete it and add it back again" an acceptable user experience?  I replaced some flooring one day and got quite a bit of exercise from 9am to 3 pm.  It wasn't automatically recognized so I entered it manually.  I entered the start time as 9pm so it gave me no zone minutes.  Can I change that entry, no.  Delete it and add it again.  Now pick a name for it, I used Cleaning because that was as close as I could get on my Android App.  Now, from the community help, I found out how to create a custom category on the web interface.  In order to change it from Cleaning to my new term 'General' I need to delete it and add it again?  At some point the user interface becomes not worth the time.  Give us and 'edit' button that works for all activities, especially ones that you have created, because you know, you might have made a mistake that you want to fix.

Oh, and it's not like you don't have an 'edit' button already, it works for auto recognized tasks just make it work for all tasks.

I've had 30 years experience in developing software and this would have never made it out of a group that I was a part of.
