I just received the fitbit ionic and when I went to update my account via the app on my phone, I would not let me log in to the Fitbit App, instructing me to check my email and password. However using the same email and password, I can log into my profile via my laptop. Any clue why this may be happening and how to resolve this?

Thanks for sharing that you just received an Ionic and for your efforts while working on this. This sounds odd as you're able to log into your computer. To work on this together I'd recommend to try the following steps in the given order:
