Unable to receive Notifications on Alta HR (iPhone X)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have all the updates of IPhone X and Fitbit Alta HR, and although I have no problem in syncronizing data, it does not recognise who is calling me or texting (SMS) me. There is a vibration of the Fitbit, but nothing else. I used to have an IPhone 6 before and I could see all the details before.

I have tried to follow all tutorials related and my notifications and all the other status of the IPhone X seem to be well set up... so I do not know what else to try now.

Thanks!

Hello @Susana_mi, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Tell me, is your tracker vibrating when your phone receives a call or text? If so, please go to the app and tap on Account > Alta HR, then scroll down and make sure Quick View is enabled.

Now, if your tracker is definitely not receiving Notifications from your phone, I would like to suggest you to reset Notifications from the Fitbit app following these steps:

- Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and tap on tracker. Then tap on Forget this Device.

- Force-close the Fitbit app by double tapping the home button on your phone and swiping up the app.

- Open the app again and tap on Account > Your Tracker > Notifications. You will receive the following Pop-up:

BTPairing.jpg

- Then, once you tap on Set Up, the app will begin setting up your tracker with the Bluetooth on your phone, which will prompt the next pop-up:

BTPairing2.jpg

- Tap Pair

- Once you get back to the tracker options, tap on Notifications an enable the ones you'd like to receive.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else. Smiley Wink

Dear Marco,

Many thanks for your mail.
Unfortunately, I have tried everything you suggested without success.
My Fitbit was initially vibrating, but now it does not even vibrates.. so I am now even more lost that at the beginning.
Do you know if there’s anything else I should try? Again, many thanks for your support.
BR,

Susana

Hello @Susana_mi, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

Is your tracker not vibrating even with an alarm or reminders to move? If so, please restart your Alta HR, then verify that the vibration in working by setting up an alarm. If it's not vibrating, please let me know so I can check this further.

Now, in case your tracker is vibrating but it's still not receiving Notifications, please go to your phone Settings > Notifications > Fitbit and make sure the following is enabled:

  1. Allow Notifications
  2. Show on Lock Screen
  3. Show in History.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know in case you need anything else. Smiley Wink

I too have an iphone X and have tried all that you have suggested. I still receive no notifications and my Alta HR no longer vibrates.

What do you recommend for the next step in troubleshooting?

Thanks,

Hello @DarolynM, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have shared your experience with me and for letting me know you have already tried the troubleshooting steps I've provided earlier. Tell me, is your Alta HR vibrating with silent alarms or when you reach your goal or is the vibration only affecting Notifications? If it is, my best recommendation would be setting up your Alta HR as a new device to reset the connection between your phone and the tracker. Don't worry, none of the information already stored in your account will be deleted.

To set up your tracker as a new device:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  4. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  5. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted!

This seems to be an issue across the board, i have read many many posts with the same complaint.

Notification vibration on iphone X 12.1 and higher is just a quick vibration causing you to miss the notification.

iPhone X

IOS 12.1.1

Fitbit 2.84(807)

Fitbit Alta 21.40.2

Tried everything from uninstall remove reinstall re pair

Hello @Jbone13 and @DarolynM, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

@DarolynM, I'm sorry to hear that after troubleshoot this issue you finally purchased another model, I sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you've experienced.

@Jbone13, I appreciate you have come back and provided the information requested. Please note that Notifications skip or stop occasionally for several reasons that don't suggest a problem with your device or the Fitbit app, which is why I would like to ask you to check the following:

  • Your phone was too far away. It must be within 30 feet of your Fitbit device to transmit the notification.
For texts, you have the conversation open on your phone. Your Fitbit device shows new texts you haven't already read.
You changed a related setting on your phone, such as turning on Do Not Disturb, Quiet hours, or Driving mode. To double check all requirements, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • You're using another Bluetooth product. If you have Bluetooth products like speakers, headsets, or car stereos paired to your phone along with your Fitbit device, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. For example, turning on your speaker might stop your phone from sending a notification or syncing. For more information, see Is the Fitbit app interfering with other Bluetooth devices?
  • The connection between your phone and Fitbit device is unstable. Bluetooth signals are susceptible to disconnecting or dropping occasionally.
  • The app that should send the notification can't do so. Check all the phone and Fitbit app requirements in How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • Your device was syncing. Syncing can sometimes prevent or delay a notification.
  • You just updated the Fitbit app. Restart your phone and try setting up notifications again.
  • Device lock is active on your Fitbit watch and you haven't recently entered your PIN. Tap your watch screen to see if the device lock prompt appears. If it does, enter your PIN.

If you've reviewed the list above and can't get notifications to work, please try the following:

  1. Force-quit the Fitbit app, then open it again and sync your tracker.
  2. Restart the Bluetooth on your phone once again.
  3. Restart your Alta HR.
  4. Refresh Notifications:
    • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
    • Tap Notifications.
    • Turn off all notifications
    • Restart your phone.
    • Open the Fitbit app and turn notifications back on.
  5. Set up Notifications again:
    • Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device.
      1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and find your Fitbit device in the list.
      2. Find an option to forget the device.
    • Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again.

I hope this can be helpful, please give these steps a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I have done all the suggestions provided.  Its not that it doesn't notify it is ever since i connected it to the iPhoneX it no longer vibrates based on the settings I had for my contacts.  Also i can barely feel the vibration.  I even have a replaced Alta and it seems little better on the vibration but it is still only a single vibrate for text messages and only 2 vibrations for phone calls.  This causes me to miss calls and messages.  I would like it so it can be a custom vibration or that it vibrates based on the settings of the contacts on the phone.  If nothing else allow for longer vibrations.

I tried all of the trouble shooting tips and nothing was working. I just "replaced" my device on the app and started getting notifications again.

From the fitbit app, click on your picture in the top left corner.

Then click Set Up a Device

Then select your device

The click Replace your...

You'll need to resync afterwards. Good luck!
