Unable to receive in-app Notifications.

Hello - I'm trying to get some clarifications on why notifications have stopped showing up in the actual Phone Fitbit app under the Notification/Messages area. For further clarification - I am talking about notifications such as: 'Nailed it! You've met your step goal for today', 'Almost there! Get x amount steps more to hit your daily goal' or 'Overachiever', etc.

I have spent a ton of time trying to fix the issue thinking that it was somehow on my end to no avail.  I finally called Fitbit today and was told that it is a known issue and the techs are working on it (it was a frustrating call btw - the person helping me did not appear to be very knowledgeable and it took quite awhile before she told me it was an issue).

However, after spending time searching this community forum, I found a thread on the issue and see that others have the same exact problem with the same exact notification stop date that I have of June 15th. I further read a moderator post that appears to say that Fitbit has totally stopped the notifications from showing up in the notification/messages area of the phone app altogether, which would mean that it isn't a bug at all that is getting fixed, but something that Fitbit decided not to provide anymore.

Can I get clarification on this please? Is this an issue/bug that is being fixed as I was told by the Fitbit phone help desk rep a few minutes ago or has Fitbit totally decided to no longer give 'Nailed it', 'Almost there' and 'Overachiever' prompts in the notification/messages area inside the actual Fitbit phone app as I read in the help forum? If in fact, Fitbit has decided to end these notifications, why wouldn't they instead provide a means for either turning it on or off by the user since there are users who liked having that feature.

I would have posted this question in the forum thread I found, but it was already closed and listed as resolved. Thanks to anyone who can further shed some light on whether this is an issue or not an issue.

Moderator Edit: Clarified Subject.

Here's a screen shot to show the area in the Fitbit app I'm referencing. You can see I haven't had any notifications since June 15th. I always liked when it reminded me of how many steps, etc. I needed to reach my goal. I also noticed that I no longer get a banner on my phone telling me when the charge has been completed. I'm frustrated that I can't seem to get an answer on whether there is a fix on the horizon or if it's just a lost cause.  *BTW...My Fitbit is a Versa that arrived at the beginning of June. I got the notices like normal the first week and then they just stopped after the 15th.

Hello @izzybella811 and @Kimicocoa, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board! Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention. Based on customer feedback, we stopped showing notifications in the Notification Center. You can continue to receive these notifications as push notifications by turning on Push Notifications in the app under Account > Notifications. Additionally, ensure that Notifications is selected in your iPhone settings.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else you might want to add or if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Thanks for getting back to me, MarcoGFitbit! I very much appreciate it! 🙂  As an additional thought for the 'powers who make the really important Fitbit decisions', as I said up above, it would be better if it could be an option button so users could opt in or out. The problem with solely using received feedback is that users don't generally give feedback when they like or appreciate a feature.  Typically, you will hear from users when they don't like something, (which I admit I'm guilty of right now). I lost a feature that helped to motivate me and I'm sorry to see it go. If adding an 'opt in or out' button is not possible, I hope Fitbit will come up with something else in the near future for us users that want more motivational pushes such as steps to go, nailed it, overachiever, etc.

*One more question...did they also stop giving the notifications for when your Fitbit is fully charged? I really miss that feature, too!

@Kimicocoa, if you have already enabled the push notifications to receive notifications from the Fitbit app, please go to your phone Settings > Notifications > Fitbit and make sure the following is enabled:

  • Allow Notifications
  • Show on Lock Screen
  • Show in History.

@izzybella811, I understand your concern when it comes to this feature and I appreciate you have voiced your feedback. We really appreciate our members's input and feedback and I would like to thank you for yours. Our team is always looking to improve the Fitbit experience and I would like to encourage you to submit your insight about getting notifications when the battery on your Fitbit device is full as a suggested idea, where members of the Community can comment and vote for it so it can be implemented in the future.

Feel free to share your suggestion with your friends and family to add more votes and comments, this is the best way to make your voice heard and get the attention from our development team.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.
