My zip recently went from measuring steps to calories. Under manage activity items there is no option to add steps, only option is calories. Help please, I’m going nuts.

Hello @Shorebird10

Hopefully I can help. Open your Fitbit App and tap “edit” on the mid upper right of your screen. Look to the top of your screen and make sure “Steps” has a green check mark beside it. If not check it. Then tap save at the top right of you screen. Your steps will now show on your Fitbit App.

😃 i hope this gives you a solution to your question. Please let me know

Thanks for your replay, my Fitbit zip doesn’t have a steps choice to check, only has a calorie check box. This is very frustrating, I have deleted the app. And reinstalled, restarted both my devices. There is no area under edit for steps, just crazy.

Hello again @Shorebird10

I wonder if your step tile is missing from the Dashboard. Lets look. Go to your online Dashboard and tap the row of squares with a circle around it on the upper right side of your screen. (Sort of looks like a rubric cube) Once you tap it look in the list and see if steps are in their. If it is simple check steps then tap done and now your step tile will show in the Dashboard.

Also on the Fitbit App try this...tap your profile picture then tap the name of your tracker (mine is found just under the Family Account) Then scroll down to Customize Display and tap that. Make sure everything you want displayed is checked

😃 Let me know now if this provides you with a solution

Thanks for your super fast response, you are correct I don’t have a tile in the upper right of my screen with a circle around it. I have been going to the calorie area on my dashboard, hitting edit and the only thing there is a place I can put a check make in for calories, just a yes no option. There is no box or mention of steps in that area. Again thanks.

Oh wait after rereading your post @Shorebird10  i think I misread what you said and you haven’t found a solution. Lets clarify first. The online Dashboard is located on this screen we are on. Look to the top of the page here on the right and you will see Dashboard. Now the Fitbit App is what you downloaded into your device. Which one of these items don’t Display your steps??

The dashboard shows up, it shows calories, weight, start logging food, track exercise, log water. Upper right hand corner has in box for notifications. On the calorie screen there is an edit function that I can delete calorie option, and manage activities. I would think the step option would be in this area, but no. I just reloaded app hoping this would solve things. I want to measure steps not calories as I have done over the past 5 years or so. Thanks again for your input.

I’m gonna screenshot what I need you to tap. It’s in the upper left corner of your dashboard. See how it has rows of squares forming a box with a circle around it. Tap that and see if steps are in there. It might say activities and stats. Check it if it’s there and then tap done

Those squares aren’t on my dashboard, now my screen says Tracker needs set up, but it can’t sinc. As it can’t find the device, battery is good, there a no other devices close, the zip is next to my devices and the display is on. Just crazy, earlier it tried to update as a code was sent to me, it entered it, the app crashed.

Wow this is crazy. If trying to restart your ZIP by removing your battery for ten seconds the put it back in with the “+” plus side showing up then trying to reconnect to your device doesn’t work I’m afraid your going to have to contact Fitbit customer service. I’m really sorry I couldn’t help you.

My desktop shows steps, not calories, but my total steps are zero. My desktop has those tiles, not my iPhone or iPad. Can’t up date my Zip to my mobile devices, think the latest IOS update is not compatible with Fitbit application. Spent too much time on this, super thank you for your input.

Hi @Shorebird10 and @SunsetRunner. It's always great to see you around the Community. I'm sorry for my delayed response and let me continue helping you.

@SunsetRunner, I appreciate you for stopping by and for sharing screenshots of what you're seeing. Your posts are very helpful!

@Shorebird10, thanks for the information provided and first of all let me explain that if your Zip was removed from your account, the Fitbit app and your fitbit.com dashboard will show your calories based on the BMR, but the rest of your stats will not be displayed. Now, since you mentioned that your iOS devices and desktop aren't finding your Fitbit device, I'm wondering if you're still having this issue. If so, please confirm if the Fitbit app is updated and make sure to turn on the Bluetooth on one device at a time, as if you have multiple Bluetooth connections your device will have difficulties to choose one device to connect with.

Give it a try and keep me posted!
