I have a Fitbit charge 3 and I have the option on the Fitbit app for “quick replies” but it’s grey and won’t let me click on it. I would like to reply to a text message or notification. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello @Kristinareid08, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that you can only use reply to messages sent to you through the Fitbit app. meaning that Quick Replies work exclusively for the Fitbit app. It's not possible to reply to other apps or reply SMS using Quick Replies through the Fitbit app.
What that means is that if you receive a message in the Fitbit app, sent to you through the app or the online Dashboard, you will be able to reply to that specific message. To enable Quick Replies for the Fitbit app, make sure that under Account > Charge 3 > Notifications > App Notifications, Fitbit appears as enabled.
I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hello @Spritzer, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you around @Janelleesky, I hope you're doing well.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums. Please note that Quick Replies are available in iOS exclusively for messages coming from the Fitbit app. In order to enable them, make sure that "Fitbit" appears under the list of App Notifications by going to Account > Your device > Notifications > App Notifications.
Remember that Quick Replies only work for messages coming through the Fitbit app. If anything changes in the future, we'll make sure to post it here in the official Forums.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, have a great day.

If that is the case, Fitbit has been falsely advertising the quick reply function. Never, in any description, tutorial, etc. have I seen any mention of the quick replies only working in the Fitbit app. On the contrary, Fitbit intentionally makes it look as though the quick reply feature is for text messages. This should be fixed immediately for all of us who bought a Charge 3 with the expectation that we would be able to use the quick reply feature for texting, rather than for the completely impractical use of responding to messages in the Fitbit app.

It was not specified, when looking into the Fitbit charge 3, that quick replies to regular text messages outside the Fitbit app wouldn't be possible. I also was under the impression that the Charge 3 would allow quick replies to text messages. I thought my Charge 3 was malfunctioning! I've loved all of my fitbit trackers (my first was the Alta) but this is clearly an issue that Fitbit should address and allow us to have the functionality for.

Apple has allowed developers to include quick replies since ios 9.1, but it's a feature that Fitbit doesn't want to include for iphone users!
I'm not sure why we don't have, it's such a popular request in the feature request section. I tagged @LizFitbit hoping she could provide some more info on the issue. Her reply and logic behind changing the status doesn't seem entirely accurate. iOS 9.1 was released way before 1/17/19 so in theory this is something fitbit could have introduced years ago.
