Versa 2 and iPad, not working.

I have an iPad Pro with the latest update from Apple.  I purchased a Versa 2 today and attempted to set it up.  Everything works fine until after it is paired and tries to connect to WiFi.  At this point, the app says it is unable to connect to Versa 2.  I’ve turned Bluetooth on/off,  rebooted the iPad, rebooted the Versa 2, deleted and reinstalled the Fitbit app, and always end up at the same point.  As soon as it tries to connect to WiFi, the app says it is unable to connect to Versa 2.  Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome @Jnesbitt82

Congratulations on the purchase of your Versa 2! I understand your having trouble pairing your new Fitbit Versa 2  to your iPad Pro. I did read through some of your older post and discovered you previously had a Fitbit Ionic. Have you unpaired your Ionic? If not please do so as it can cause conflicts. When you went through the setup process did you sign into your Fitbit App, tap your profile picture then scrolled down to and tap “Set up a device”?
😃 keep me updated

Hello!  Thanks for replying!  I did have an Ionic before.  The Ionic has been gone for a while and this is actually a different iPad too.  What I learned before when attempting to set up my Ionic was that it would work when I signed in to the Fitbit app through an iPhone.  After setting up the watch, I was able to sign in on the iPad’s Fitbit app and it would work for the most part.

I just tried this today with the Versa 2.  Sure enough, it works great with the iPhone. It allowed me to set up, update, and change watch faces.  Now the Versa 2 is usable with the iPad.  There are a few things that still don’t work while using the iPad though.  Weather information doesn’t work, changing watch faces will always fail, attempting to update firmware will not work.  In order to do any of these, I have to shut down the connection to the iPad, set it back up on the iPhone, update it or change watch face, and then go back to using the it on the iPad.

The first time I did this with Ionic, it was because I didn’t have an iPhone of my own.  I borrowed one and set it up to use it with my iPad.  Now, I have an iPhone, but I honestly don’t use it and my 4 year old has claimed it for himself.  It’s nice to know the workaround is still applicable, but kinda frustrating that the iPads still have issues.

Oh, and on a positive note, the Versa 2 updated its firmware in under 4 minutes.  I remember when the Ionic would take 1-2 hours. That was a nice surprise.

Hello again @Jnesbitt82

I really happy to see you at least got your Versa 2 up and running but I would agree trying to “borrow back” the iPhone from your four year old to make clock faces changes etc may prove to be difficult at times. 😂

With that said can you please check here to make sure if your particular iPad appears on the list of compatible devices: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2315 If you find that your iPad is not compatible this will explain why some features may not operate properly.
Please let me know if it’s listed

Hey!  No problem.  I checked out the list and the iPad is listed. To be more specific, my current iPad is model: MLQ32LL/A.  My previous iPad that didn’t work was a iPad Air 2.  Ive just never had good luck with iPads working with Fitbit. lol

I would agree @Jnesbitt82 that  iPads (for whatever reason) can be a bit tricky. I have an iPad I use as well. Have you tried going through your online Dashboard, using your iPad, to try to make changes like clock face changes? You might want to see if that can be at least something you can try. Just sign on to your online Dashboard, tap the gear :gear: wheel on the upper right, tap Versa 2 on the drop down menu. From there you can make some changes to features.
