Versa not receiving text notifications with new iPhone 12

I have recently upgraded my iPhone and my versa is no longer receiving notifications of text messages. I have read that Bluetooth needed to be turned off from the previous iPhone. The previous iPhone has been factory reset and I am no longer in possession of it. How do I start receiving text message notifications? The incoming call notifications come through, just not text
