Versa unable to sync with iPhone XS Max.

I’ve just upgraded my phone to the iPhone xs max and now can’t connect my versa. Is this phone not compatible or am I doing something wrong. I’ve turned the versa on and off, the phone on and off and Bluetooth on an off and nothing is working for me

Does your iPhone have the latest version of the iOS software and is your Fitbit app fully updated?

I'm using an iPhone XS Max with the Fitbit Charge 3 (though also used it with a flex, Alta HR and Blaze) and had no issues.

Also, if you've set up your new phone from a backup of your old phone is the Versa already set up in the Fitbit app?

If it is, you may need to remove it from the app and choose set up new device but, before doing so, also check it's not already listed in the bluetooth section (if it is, remove it and turn your phone off and on again before setting it up in the app).

Finally, if all that fails, uninstall the Fitbit app, turn your phone off and on again, restart your Versa (press and hold the left and bottom right buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds. Let go of the buttons), reinstall the app and try again.

Just done everything you suggested and still nothing.

I rang Fitbit and it’s not compatible yet apparently but developers are working on it. Was suggested I use a different device to sync to until it is compatible.

UPDATE:

I finally got it working. I had deleted the Fitbit app off my old phone but I didn’t remove it from the Bluetooth list, once I done that it paired to the max straight away and I’ve had no issues since.

Hooefully you can get yours sorted

@Anna2018, thanks for reporting this to us and for letting us know what our Support Team told you. At this moment I would like to suggest you to try the following:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone.

  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Yes I’m able to sync now! I had to unpair/remove from my old phone old phone, remove the app too then add the app to my new phone then pair it again. It was still seeing it on my old device for some reason. It’s unfortunate than the rep couldn’t assist me with these steps and I learnt from the forum.

Thanks,
Anna

My Versa time is not accurate.  It was a few minutes behind.  I had this problem after I upgraded my iPhone to XS Max.  Does anyone have the same problem?  I called Customer Support but they did not give a consistent answer.

Hello @miloann2002, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, thanks for joining the conversation. Smiley Happy

Thanks for your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that the time on your watch should update after a successful sync, if the time is off by a few minutes, please sync your Versa. If you're having trouble syncing, please check the following steps:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  • Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Hi,

I have a similar issue. I upgraded to an iphone Xs this weekend and haven't been able to receive phone notifications on my fitbit. I have gone through all of the steps listed in this forum with no resolution but oddly I can now receive phone call notifications but still cannot see texts. Any suggestions?

Hello @jrdani5, thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to have you on board the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have taken the time to let us know you're experiencing this issue. Are you receiving call, calendar and app Notifications? If the only ones you're not receiving are text Notifications, please go to your phone Settings > Notifications > Messages and make sure your screen looks like this:

TextNotifications.png

Make sure "Sounds" is set to any other option other than NONE. Then, restart your phone and let us know the outcome.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

Anna,

I went from an Iphone 6s Plus to an XS Max and had the same problem, then I read here the solution that worked for me.  I still had my 6 on and running but forgot to "forget" my versa on my bluetooth!  That's all it took!!  I don't know if you still have your old phone on and are using it for music or whatever like I am, but if you don't remove the versa from the old phone bluetooth, it won't pick it up on the new one.
