Versa won't receive text notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit Versa will no longer show my text messages and will occasionally vibrate when I receive a call. I have an iPhone XR and it says it is synced yet still nothing. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled but nothing.

I have lost faith in finding a permanent solution and I am selling my versa
2. I have purchased a Apple watch and I am loving it!

I had this same problem and have figured it out.
on my iPhone I would have "message preview" off (meaning if someone sent me a text message, then on my phone it would say their name and 'text message" instead of the content of what they'd said)

all you have to do is switch this setting in your phone and then it will show on the Fitbit 🙂

I have given up since no one including Fitbit has a solution. I also have difficulty getting Alexa to work. My Fitbit’s (I’m a long time customer since they started the company) last about ¾ years. This one is 5 months old. When everything else starts going I’ll go with the Apple version. Good lyck

I already did that. I may get a message here and there nothing consistent. And if the same person is texting I don’t get consecutive text! Oh well. Maybe this is a hint to unplug?

Update:

That’s my plan also!

Yes several times. This started back when I got it in December. I give up. Nobb by point spending hours researching re starting etc etc. Apple Watch in my future

Hello everyone, thanks for your participation in the Community.

I appreciate the time that each of you took to share the details of the issue with text notifications, the troubleshooting done and your experience. Thank you for the efforts to resolve this, sharing the solutions and tips to help other users. I understand that this can be very frustrating and appreciate your feedback. It’s important that you carefully review your notifications settings on your iPhone. Please confirm if you've followed all instructions in Troubleshooting quick tips for iPhones

It's recommended to have "Show Previews" set to Always or When Unlocked. If it's not working with "When Unlocked" setting please try to change to "Always".

If you continue experiencing difficulties, please let me know your OS for us to investigate further.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

Thank you, Sarah9719! I have reset my phone, reset the Fitbit, deleted the app, changed all sorts of buttons for notifications, factory reset the Fitbit...all several times. So frustrating. This certainly isn’t the fix I wanted, but at least I can get text messages on my Versa2 from my iPhone 11 now. Hope they fix this; I prefer my messages stay private and it’s a bit ridiculous that I can’t have it set that way and still get them on the Fitbit like I used to. Got this instead of the Apple Watch; makes me wonder if I made the right choice...

Versa 2 seems to pick and chose which text I’ll get.
It recently updated to the latest firmware.
Now it doesn’t sync automatically? I have to open the app and wait for the
update. Ummm. Another glitch?
Disappointed again or should I say still?

Hi @Dakota225 and @SunsetRunner. I'm glad to see you here again and I'm sorry for the delayed response.

@Dakota225, thanks for updating your Versa 2 and because it needs to sync in order to get your notifications, please give a try to the following steps:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone, tap on the icon next to your Versa 2 and then on Forget this device.
  2. Turn off the Bluetooth from other devices that are nearby.
  3. Make sure the Fitbit app is updated.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and pull down on the screen to force a manual sync. This will re-establish the Bluetooth connection between your watch and the Fitbit app.
  5. A Bluetooth pair authorization should appear, tap pair.
  6. Once this is done, set up the notifications  one more time.

@SunsetRunner, thanks for trying to check the links provided above. While it's odd that they're not working, please try opening them using a different browser. I also contacted our Support team and I was told that you already have a case created with them. Since they've provided you with assistance, I'd recommend to reply back to their email if you have questions about their resolution.

I'll be around, keep me posted.

I am unable to receive text messages and notifications to my Versa 2 from FB messenger, for example. I am able to receive phone call notifications and calendar notifications just fine, however. Under the  Notifications section in the Fitbit app it only gives me the option to turn on notifications for a select few apps (not even including any social media). I was going to include a picture but it won't let me attach one. Does anyone have suggestions on why it's like this? Any solutions? I already visited Best Buy and the guy was no help. Deleted the app, restarted my Fitbit, turned my previews for text messages on/off, my Bluetooth connection is just fine. Not sure what's up. I enjoy my Fitbit but seems disappointing that I cannot receive basic text messages!! And pretty sure it's too late to return since it's been a few months.
