Hi, I just begun using Fitbit as a friend recommended it to me, my friend registers his weight and it shows the time he weighed himself, but for me it just says “MANUAL”. We both have the same weight. Is there a way my logs show the time they were made?
thanks for the help

Hi @apierini is your friend using a scale that uploads weight automatically to the Fitbit app/ website (for example Fitbit Aria scales or Withings scales)?
Are you manually entering your weight on the Fitbit app / website? That could explain the difference.

Hello @Julia_G thanks for you reply.
yes we are using a weight/app that links to the Fitbit app and automatically uploads the data. However at some point for me it even stopped uploading. His automatic uploads even log time, while mine say manual. I did enter manually a few measurements I had over the year, did this affect anything?
thanks

Hello @apierini
Mine Aria Air scale functions the same as yours does. Sometimes it just syncs my weight to the Fitbit App but sometimes it syncs to the Fitbit app but will have the word “manual” beside my recorded weight as if I manually put in the weight which I never do. I always sync mine. I never noticed if there was a “time” next to each weight that was synced so I scanned through my log and did find an incident where it actually did display the time and a manual input. (See image below) Again I have never manually input any weight. Do you and your friend have the same exact Aria scale? There are different models that give different information. Just a thought but are you both using the same type of mobile device? Both Android? both iOS? Or different? I understand that shouldn’t make a difference but who knows…maybe it records slightly different in a different operating system. Either way…I’m happy my scale works perfectly syncing my weight each day but like you I have no idea why things are logged differently sometimes.

@apierini I apologize if I am misreading your post. To clarify, it sounds like you aren't using a Fitbit scale. Have you tried unlinking, then relinking your scale app to your Fitbit app?

The “manual” entry is a double entry bug. Like @SunsetRunner I Frequently get two entries when I weigh myself, one listed as “manual” and one uploaded automatically. It is always the same weight, and I never make a manual entry. I use a Withings scale, linked to my Fitbit account.
I didn’t realise that this bug affects the Aria (Fitbit) scales as well as third party scales, but from what @SunsetRunner says it seems that it does. My Withings scale has been doing that for several years. I occasionally just delete a few weeks worth of the manual entries. I never reported it because I assumed it was a third party issue and not Fitbit

You are correct @Julia_G My Aria (Fitbit) scale does indeed place a manual and my synced weight (same weight) as you are describing your Withings Scale. Mine does not behave like this everyday but a hit or miss sort of behavior. Like you I sometimes find myself deleting the manual weight entries but I’ve given up that practice for the most part. I just let it be. Maybe this should be a reported bug. 😉 But the original poster @apierini is looking to have the “time” next to their weight entry daily like her friend has. It’s interesting to note that the only incident that I can find on my weight log where there is a “time stamp” is proceeding a phantom manual entry. It exist nowhere else.

I also only get a time stamp where I see the “manual” entry. @apierini I wonder whether the time stamp only comes when there are two weight entries for the same day? Try weighing yourself twice a few minutes apart and see what happens.
Could you confirm what scales you are using and if you use a third party app to link your scales to your Fitbit account?

Good catch @Julia_G ! My scale did indeed place a time stamp next to my weight if more then one entry a day. I weighed myself three times. The first time had no time stamp. The second time I weighed myself it placed a time stamp on my first weight entry and on my second. I tried a third time and again it was time stamped. I guess it’s a way of breaking it down if your someone who’s in the habit of weighing themselves more then once a day. Maybe that’s the case here 🤷:female_sign:
