When I select a food to log in, it doesn't come up.

I'm trying to be a good fitbit user and log in my food, but the calorie information never comes up.

For instance, I search for Blackberries.  Plenty of options come up, but when I select, it spins and spins and spins and spins.  Nothing comes up.

I'm on wifi.

Of course, it keeps asking me for Location Access, but I don't want to do that.  How many times do I have to say "no"?  My iphone is old and the battery runs down fast enough, thank you.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @DianekDe.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing the difficulty you're experiencing with logging food. Thanks for trying to resolve this, I appreciate the additional details and I am glad to assist you. I recommend trying the following:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Verify if your phone is up-to-date: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  4. Reboot your phone.
  5. Open the Fitbit app and log back in to your account.
  6. Try to log food again, you can confirm the steps at

Thank you for your comment regarding the Location access message. Currently it's required to have the location services set to "Always" on your iOS device whenever you're going to use MobileRun or Connected GPS. If you're not going to use those features, you can leave the location services off as that should not affect the way your Fitbit syncs and communicates with the Fitbit app. I am sorry if this causes you any inconvenience and please know that any feedback posted in the forums is always welcome as it helps us to improve our products, services and overall environment.

Let me know how it goes.

It continues to not respond to my requests for food information.  Spins and spins and spins and returns no information.  Rebooting doesn't help.

I think the problem is on your end.  You've tried to add too many bells and whistles to the app and it's interfering with the basics.  It works fine sometimes, but tends to not work at the same time of day (the evening).

I've been loyal to Fitbit for six years and this is really, really annoying me.  I know how to log food.  It's worked fine for six years.  Now, suddenly, it doesn't work and you keep asking me over and over and over for location access while all I want is the calories of the crackers I just ate.

Thank you for your reply, @DianekDe.

I appreciate your efforts and the additional details. I am sorry to hear about the frustration this situation has caused. I would like to confirm if you've tried to clear cache on your iPhone or uninstall and reinstall the app? If the issue persists, please let me know the model of your iPhone for me to investigate further.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
